I've been dancing since 8th grade. First at a local studio in my town, and now with the Variant Dance Troupe here at Clark. This past weekend was Variant's spring semester showcase so I thought I would talk about the different thoughts I have during a show and while I'm on stage.
1. Okay, the lights have been out for too long and it's too silent, when is the song starting?
2. OH HECK the song is starting, GOTTA BLAST.
3. Cool, I can't even see the audience, that takes away some nerves.
4. NOPE, now I can see the audience.
5. Where my parents at?
6. Stop looking for people -- just keep dancing.
7. No, no, you're thinking about the moves too much, just do it. You know this.
8. Oh. my God, the lights are so bright.
9. I'm sweaty.
10. This song goes by so much quicker than it did in rehearsals.
11. Must resist the urge to fix my hair.
12. Crap I just messed up. I hope no one saw that.
13. Everyone definitely saw that.
14. No, they didn't, I'm just paranoid. The audience doesn't know the choreography, only you know you messed up.
15. Wait it's over already?
16. Nope, I definitely did not just touch the curtain while trying to get off stage. Nope, not me.
17. Oh heck, I have another dance after the next one.
18. I am the master of changing costumes at lightning speed.
19. Time to go back out again, let's do this thing.
