19 Questions Only College Girls Call Their Moms To Ask

When we are younger, we often times neglect our mother. I mean, when we are two, we can’t thank mom (and dad) for all the troubled months they had teaching us how to walk and go to the bathroom. When we hit the teen years, we normally have a love-hate relationship with our moms. I know no matter how much I love my mom, I would still get upset with her about the silliest things.

When college comes and you’re on your own, you don’t realize how much you need mom. I call my mom at the most convenient times for me, praying she answers and has all the solutions to my questions. Often times she does. I would be lost without my mom and I can’t thank her enough. Do you call your mom to ask random questions? What do you ask? This is what I found my friends and I are most likely to call mom about.

1. Can you make a dentist appointment for me?

Seriously. I don't have the time or the desire to figure out when someone is going to look at my teeth. Thanks for letting me be socially awkward when it comes to scheduling things.

2. What temperature should I cook chicken at?

Also, what is a stove? I have to cook my own food? Sometimes it is just easier to call your mom instead of looking things up on Google. Or is it?

3. What's the Netflix password? Hulu? Amazon Prime?

I can't afford these things.

4. Can I wash whites and colors together?

How do you do laundry? No matter how many times I do a load of laundry, I still always have questions.

5. Did you put a deposit in my bank account?

I'm broke.

6. What's credit? How do I get it?

There's a difference between a debit and credit card? What? Huh?

7. Can I wash something that says "dry clean only"?

I live in a dorm without a car, but that shirt is still so cute and I need to wear it. Do I seriously have to find somewhere to dry clean it?

8. Should I spend $40 on clothes this week?

Retail therapy is a thing. Thanks for the zero support mom. I guess maybe I should be saving to move out of your house after college.

9. Can I drink alcohol with this prescription?

I'm in college mom.

10. What is my blood type?

I still think 70% of us don't know the answer.

11. Am I allergic to anything?

I remember you wrote it on my health form, but I can't remember how to spell it or what medication it was.

12. How do I do my taxes? Can you do them?

I don't even know where to get the form to start doing taxes.

13. Can you read that email I want to send to my boss?

I don't think I'm professional enough. Can you make sure it's perfect? I can't afford to get fired. I can't afford much actually.

14. Do you have my social security card? Birth certificate?

Wait, you gave them to me? When? I can't find them.

15. Will that red wine stain come out?

Can I just use more alcohol to get the stain out?

16. Can I re-gift this?

I can't afford to buy them a gift and this is cute to give someone. Right?

17. What insurance plan do we have?

Apparently, CVS said they don't take our plan. Why?

18. What's adulting?

Even if we are out of your house for three years, being a full adult is hard.

19. Can we hang out?

Seriously. You're cooler than I'll ever be.

You are the best mom. Thank you for always picking up the phone and knowing exactly what to say. You always have the answers to the questions no one else can answer, at least, the ones my other college friends can't answer. Love you to the moon and back!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
