Just like every other year, 2018 was full of ups and downs. For myself, this year was a trying year filled with many, many knockdowns, but like always, the Lord came through and provided more than I could've ever expected.

God taught me more than I was prepared for, yet through it all, He is still good.

1. I ate lots of tacos, and I mean lots.

2. I watched a scary movie (which I hate) with the best choir family (which I love)

3. I learned to treat myself and bought way too many clothes

4. I celebrated the end of an era with the best pals around

5. I got accepted into my dream school and celebrated with my A1 since day 1

6. I rediscovered my love for teaching and officially changed my major to Early Childhood Education

7. Year #5 of leading music at Vacation Bible School

8. Celebrated Galentine's Day

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines.
