It’s day one of the semester. Which means day one of new classes, faces, and overly-priced textbooks. Inhale, exhale (you got this!). And while you stride to class sporting your new Jansport book bag, you might be a little nervous. Or excited? Or maybe just plain lost? (the business building is over there, dear).
But anyway, here are 17 things you’re probably doing (don't lie) on the first day of class.
1. Arriving obnoxiously early to class for no reason.
2. Trying to get a good seat in class.
3. Scoping out all the cuties.
4. But more importantly, scoping out the good group project partner.
5. Wearing the perfect outfit that makes you look like you didn’t try (but you really did!).
6. Feeling betrayed when the PowerPoint show goes from the "Syllabus" slide to the "Chapter 1" slide.
7. After reviewing the syllabus, calculating what grade you think you can pull off in this class.
8. Trying your best to not do or say anything embarrassing in front of the class.
9. Telling yourself that you’re going to study more this semester and won’t procrastinate.
10. Getting nervous when your professor starts talking about all your upcoming assignments and lessons you'll be learning.
11. Brainstorming golden fun facts about yourself, in case the professor goes around the room for introductions.
12. Getting annoyed when the professor completely butchers the pronunciation of your name.
13. Desperately missing summer break when your professor begins to assign you a couple chapters of reading.
14. Hoping the Professor doesn't randomly pick on you when they ask a question.
15. Rolling your eyes when your professor gives their basic spiel of how cheating is wrong and cell phones should be turned off in the classroom.
16. Forming first impressions of your Professor and all your classmates.
17. Getting excited when one your classmates is friendly and talks to you.
