17 Situations Only TRUE Bookworms Will Understand
Madeline Dziak

In a range of many things that I enjoy, I do have a love for reading books. Books have always given an opening to having an imaginative mind and emerging myself into fictional worlds. But, like every other situation, book nerds/bookworms deal with many situations that can be a bump in the road. I myself have even got caught within a couple of situations such as these. Without further ado, here are a couple of problems that book nerds understand too well.

1. Spending an entire paycheck on books.

So where was that check I got from work for $180? Oh, wait... I spent all of that on Amazon on books...sorry not sorry.

2. Running out of room on your bookshelf for books.

What do I do now?! Do I put my books on random places in my room or go to IKEA and get another shelf?! My books need a home!!

3. Preorder campaigns are your weaknesses.

I only did one preorder campaign and that was for "A Court Of Wings And Ruins" when you could get a colored map of Prythian (the world in that series). But looking at the other preorder campaigns for books... I need to calm myself down because I won't be home for a couple of months.

4. Ebook, audio book, or physical copy?!

THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW!!!

5. Having to limit yourself on books to bring on vacation.

Whether it's on a plane, going to the middle of nowhere for camp, or going to college (hi self), it can be hard to choose which books to bring with you.

"Should I Stay Or Should I Go" is constantly playing in your head when deciding.

6. The book to movie/tv adaptation doesn't meet up to your standards.

I mean, "Shadowhunters" (based on "The Mortal Instruments" series by Cassandra Clare) puts some aspects from the books in the show and while it's not an exact adaptation of the series, it's a great TV show that I love and I also enjoyed the movie. "The Percy Jackson" movies on the other hand...

7. When you have to fight the urges to go into a bookstore.

OK, so I have a haircut to go to, I have to get a gift card for my mom for her to give to my dad, oh hey, is that Barnes and Noble? No...I can't...I'm on a mission!

And I'm at the checkout getting a book...

8. Going over the limit of how many books you buy on a trip.

I know my limit is two books per trip, but my birthday was the other day and I wanted to treat myself.

9. Paperback or Hard cover?!

MORE FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS!!!

10. Having multiple copies of one book.

That includes the original cover, the new cover, the special collector's edition, the however many years anniversary edition, the movie or TV adaptation cover, and covers from other countries that may have been ordered or gotten in the said country because they are aesthetically pleasing.

I have the original cover and the movie adaptation cover of "City of Bones"...

11. The people that borrow your books and never returns them.

I'm talking to you, dad.

12. That growing TBR pile.

And it's still growing to this day no matter what.

13. When your organization method doesn't work.

Good luck trying to do a rainbow organization method if you don't have a lot of yellow books.

14. Earning the title of the person who gives books as presents.

Have yet to earn that but it'll happen soon.

15. Someone who folds the corners when marking their spot in a book.

*Deep breath* HOW CAN YOU DO DAMAGE TO A BEAUTIFUL BOOK LIKE THAT?!?!

16. Your favorite author goes on tour, and they're nowhere near where you live.

Or you discover through social media that they're in your area the day of and you rush to get to the event. (Also known as me meeting Marissa Meyer, author of "The Lunar Chronicles" series and Heartless)

17. But no matter what, you will always find ways to love or hate certain books.

You will develop favorite characters, OTPs, and nOTPs. You would want to travel to the fictional places that have been created. You will know who your favorite and least favorite authors are. Your imagination will be all over the place, and you would want to immerse more into a world like that.

StableDiffusion

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
