With the last moments of your senior year and freedom rapidly approaching, you begin to realize that your real moments of childhood and college life are fleeting. It seems as though your parents just moved you into your dorm, kissed you on the forehead, and watched as you cried as they drove away. Boom, here you are applying for graduation. As you start preparing for the real world where you pay taxes, go to work from 9-5, and pay your own rent, you realize that college truly is the best four years of your life. As you start realizing these things about your life, just like Kylie Jenner did about 2016, here are some reasons to cry over being a senior and starting your real life.

1. Napping every day won’t be an acceptable past time anymore.

2. Remember that 8 a.m. you dreaded attending Junior year? Well, now that’s called going to work, and it lasts till 5 p.m.

3. And to top it off, skipping work isn’t as acceptable as skipping your 8 a.m.

4. Spending Wednesday nights at White Trash Wednesday probably won’t fit into your weekly schedule.

5. There won’t be any more meals in your sorority house or on campus dinning. Looks like we have to figure out how to use the oven for ourselves.

6. Sadly, all of your closest friends won’t be five minutes away anymore, but rather spread out across the country.

7. Attending home football games, tailgating by the stadium, and drinking beer at noon with the rest of your university won’t be your Saturday plans any longer.

8. You’ll now miss out on the random free food found on campus on any given occasion.

9. Your parents will tell you “goodluck” with paying rent on your own.

10. Trying to find a job in the city that you want with the salary that you want might make you pull your hair out.

11. Unfortunately, you’ll learn that eating healthy on a low, post-grad budget is difficult work.

12. Leaving your favorite college town bars and restaurants behind and recognizing that alcohol is more expensive in other places.

13. Applying for grad school and attending grad school is harder than you thought.

14. Graduation itself is a miserable, long, and grueling event.

15. “Summer Vacation” won’t be in the books anymore unless you decide to become a teacher.

16. On a happier note, for a good cry, you probably won’t have to stay up all night studying for a final exam ever again.

17. Leaving your college days, incredible friends, and alma mater won’t be easy. But the new life and endless opportunity awaits you. Go out there, pursue your dreams, and take on the world. Life’s what you make it. Maybe the next four years will be just as great.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
