17 Lessons I learned In 2015
We Heart It

2015 was an eventful year! They say we learn from our mistakes, but I say we learn from other people’s mistakes. Celebrities and other public figures are constantly messing up in front of the whole world and we are all taking notes. Coming out of 2015, I am realizing that I have become a much wiser person because of my second-hand experiences from the people that I have seen trending on Twitter. Here are some of the lessons we, as a society, have learned in 2015.

1. We learned how to turn the lights on at parties.

Parties are no longer turnt. Parties are lit.

2. We learned how to naturally plump our lips to look like Kylie Jenner’s

...because Kylie looks so natural.

3. Hoverboards.

We learned about the future. We may not be hovering off the ground like the hoverboards we have all been dreaming about, but these are close enough.

4. The whip and the nae nae.

We are well-rounded people so we learned about old forms of transportation as well.

Here’s another GIF that just shows how well-rounded humanity is when it comes to learning about history as well as the future.

5. We learned why Adele crossed the road.

To say hello from the other side.

6. We learned to respect our elders and take advice from our grandparents (even when it comes to tips on dance moves).

7. We learned that this guy wants to run the country.

8. We learned how to live without arms.

Arms are no longer necessary when you have a selfie stick!

9. We learned that buns are no longer just a women’s trend.

Everyone can rock a bun!

10. We learned that just because someone says you’re something doesn’t mean you actually are.

Sorry, Miss Colombia!

11. We learned that Zayn Malik leaving One Direction was the end of the world as we knew it.

12. We learned what was “good.”

13. We learned how to communicate with the dead, specifically young Mexican boys named Charlie.

14. We learned how to call people with braces, acne, and glasses ugly in order to stop body shaming, which made absolutely no sense.

But hey, we found out there are some hot models in this world. Remember when the #DontJudgeChallenge swept the Internet?

15. We learned that not everyone sees things the same way.

16. We learned how to sneeze and play it off like we were just doing a dance move.

17. We learned the key to success.

Egg whites, chicken sausage, potatoes, water that they don't want us to have, and Apple Ciroc. Celebrate success, right?

If you ever thought that 2015 wasn’t a great year for you, just look at all the things you’ve learned…all the juicy knowledge you’ve gained throughout the year! Who knows what 2016 will bring!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
