When Irish Eyes are smiling... it's probably because they are so happy about the wonderful heritage that they belong to! All ethnic backgrounds are special in their own way, but being from the Emerald Isle is pretty wonderful. The Irish are a people full of pride for their descent. Here are 17 awesome things about being Irish!

1. Authentic Irish Food.

My mouth waters at the thought of a hearty bowl of Mulligan Stew. Mmmm. Potatoes are still a specialty!

2. Monopoly over the Color Green.

What other country gets to claim a whole color all to themselves? We wear green in a tribute to The Emerald Isle!

3. Red Hair Genes.

Fiery red locks run in our genes! We are just as unique as we are beautiful!

4. Having Our Own Holiday.

Irish or not, everyone celebrates St. Patrick's Day! We have a whole holiday devoted to our country! Boom... take that Norwegians!

5. Alcohol Tolerance.

Whether or not this ability to drink more is in our head's, we Irish really know how to throw back our beer and whiskey in the jar!

6. Large Families.

Big families are the best. Big, Irish families are even better. The Irish are definitely known to have large families, much more to love!

7. Our Ancestor's Story of Struggle and Triumph.

Now I know that everyone in The United States descends from family who had to make the difficult move from their homeland, but our specific story is pretty amazing. During a time of great famine, our ancestors gave up everything they had to give this new world a chance and despite vast adversity, thrived.

8. Freckles.

"A face without freckles is like a night sky without stars".

9. The Irish Jig.

Not only does it look cool, it's also a great calf workout!

10. Our Strong Christian Faith.

The shamrock is a symbol of the Trinity and encapsulates the fact that we attribute all of our successes to and find hope in all our loses with God alongside us.

11. Leprechauns.

Whether or not you believe in their existence, the idea of a funny little man wearing a hat, jumping around rainbows and throwing gold is pretty great.

12. O'Bunch O'Really Beautiful Names.

Slap an "O'" or a "Mc" in front of just about any concoction of letters and it instantly become Irish. Traditional Irish names, both first and last, are not only fun to say, but very beautiful and hold tradition and history.

13. Irish Lingo.

We may have the gift of gab, but that doesn't mean we're full of blarney! The Irish love to make up their own unique vocabulary.

14. Good Luck.

They don't use the phrase, "luck o' the Irish," for nothing!

15. Authentic Irish Music & Folk Songs.

If you don't know all of the words to "Who Threw The Overalls in Mistress Murphy's Chowder", you better learn them quick! Along with fun songs, Irish Music's use of harp, tin whistle, and kettle drums make it a beautiful genre.

16. Tradition.

Once again, I'm fully aware that people of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds partake in traditions, but ours are pretty great. The link to the past and our families that our heritage provides is worth more than gold.

17. Irish Wisdom & Blessings.

May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always with you. We are full of wise words and authentic blessings for anything you may encounter in life.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
