16 Ways To Ring In 2016

Even though it feels like we just got all dressed up, watched the ball drop and sang “Auld Lang Syne,” 2015 is coming to a close. In just a few short weeks, the lights will stop sparkling and the presents will all be unwrapped. It’s important to enjoy the spirit of the season while you can and step into the new year with your best foot forward. If you’re not quite sure what you want to be doing when the clock strikes midnight, here are 16 ways to ring in 2016.

1. You’re invited!

Throw on that sequined dress in the back of your closet that you’ve been dying to wear and attend a New Year’s Eve party. Visit with old friends, snack on hors d’oeuvres and be in a room packed with people when 2015 turns into 2016.

2. Be the hostess with the mostest

Make a guest list, put on an apron, create a playlist and host your own get together.

3. All dressed up with somewhere to go

Look like a million bucks and splurge on a fancy dinner out with friends. If saving money is one of your resolutions this year, you can start saving tomorrow.

4. We are family

End 2015 and enter 2016 with the ones you love. Whether you go to dinner or have a quiet evening at home, it’ll be priceless because of the company you’re with.

5. Order in

Have a low-key night in, invite a couple of friends over and get delivery. Now, the only question is Chinese or pizza?

6. Go bowling

Enjoy a little friendly competition and see who will enter 2016 as a champion.

7. Movie night

Have your best gal pals over, stay in your PJs and have a movie night. Watch “New Year’s Eve” and every other romantic comedy you can think of.

8. Downtown

Pick out a sparkly crop top, high-waisted jeans and pull on your tallest pair of boots. Grab your friends and venture downtown. Experience the hustle and bustle of ringing in the new year in the city.

9. Karaoke

Welcome the new year with song. Surround yourself with good company and sing your heart out.

10. Game night

Nothing says party quite like Scattergories. Get your gang together, make teams and have a game night.

11. Get a room

Pack a swimming suit, take a dip in the pool and order room service. Enter the new year in luxury.

12. Round Robin

Get a group together. Have one friend make appetizers at their place. Another friend can host the meal. A different friend can have dessert by them. This way, you get to see everyone’s holiday decorations and one person doesn’t have to host the entire evening.

13. Church

Reflect and be thankful that you were blessed with another 365 days. Think back on what you could have done differently and prepare to move forward into 2016 with a clean slate.

14. Me, Myself and I

Think about what you really want to accomplish in 2016. Write a cliche list of resolutions and try to live by them past the first week of January.

15. Travel Near

Get away and take the train to a nearby city. Experience the excitement of this holiday from a place you've never celebrated it before.

16. Travel Far

Drop everything, fly to New York City and watch the ball drop! (I wish).

Regardless of what you end up doing this New Year’s Eve, make sure you’re doing something you love with someone you love. Take a look back on the previous year, be proud of your accomplishments and learn from your mistakes. Enter 2016 knowing what you want to get out of it and do your absolute best to achieve your goals.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
