1. Bravado- A show of boldness intended to impress or intimidate.
This word is just the right amount of obnoxious to describe trying to impress someone isn't it?
2. Ballyhoo- Extreme publicity or fuss.
Let's be real, this one is just really fun to say. I think someone should write a song and use the word "ballyhoo" in it, this word was just made for vibrato.
3. Feckless- Irresponsible and lacking strength of character, incompetent, weak
Let's just say I like this one for childish reasons... try holding your tongue and saying this one.
4. Obfuscate- To obscure, bewilder, confuse
I'm pretty sure you could confuse someone just by using this word, perfect right?
5. Caterwaul- A shrill howling or wailing noise.
The perfect word for the sound your baby cousin is currently making while you try and fail to feed him broccoli.
6. Amble- To move at a very slow and relaxed pace.
The best way to describe how I make my way to class on Fridays.
7. Balderdash- Nonsense.
There are so many words for nonsense: codswallop, rubbish, bunk, bananas, poppycock, flapdoodle, folly, just to name a few. Balderdash seemed the most out of place so it made the list.
8. Beam- To smile radiantly.
Who doesn't love a beaming smile directed their way?
9. Boondoggle- Work that is pointless but gives the appearance of having value.
Not what I would have guess the definition for this one would be.
10. Brouhaha- uproar, hubbub.
Another one of those words that's just extremely fun to say.
11. Canard- An unfounded rumor or story.
Basically, a word to describe anything that started unnecessary drama in high school.
12. Cavil- To make petty or unnecessary objections.
We all know someone who would likely cavil for hours if we didn't stop them, here is a word just for them.
13. Defenestrate- To throw out a window.
This one just cracks me up, do we really need a word to specifically describe throwing something out of a window? I guess so.
14. Eldritch- Uncomfortably weird, eerie, spooky.
This word kinda sounds like it could be someone's last name doesn't it? Weird.
15. Ennui- Boredom, lack of interest.
To be honest I'm tired of the word "boredom" this is a much better replacement.
16. Fetching- Attractive.
Using "fetching" in a sentence rather than "attractive" makes me feel a bit British so I may be a little biased but "fetching" does seems to just roll off the tongue doesn't it?
