Every group of friends always has one friend that looks out for everyone else, the one that keeps everyone (mostly) in line and in order. This amazingly dedicated friend is often referred to as the mom friend, and I am one of many of those people. A lot of people think that my life must be boring being the "responsible" one, but it is definitely opposite. So, here is my life as told by "Parks and Recreation."

1. The looks you get from others in public when your friends call you Mom.

Is it weird that I respond to "Mom" at 19? Probably, but that ain't your business.

2. When one of your friends asks you to tell them what to do in a situation, and then does the exact opposite.

It's hard to sit back and watch your friends go against the advice that they asked you for, but sometimes you've got to let them fly on their own.

3. When you were right about what they should have done.

You'll never say "I told you so", but you're doing this dance in your head.

4. The look on your face when you see one of your friends doing something stupid at a party, when you were supposed to watch them.

Sometimes you lose track of your friends, and sometimes it goes terribly wrong.

5. "*Insert name here* is throwing up can you come to my room?"

No matter what time it is, how busy or tired you are, you know you're always going to wind up going to help whoever needs you for whatever reason.

6. You hear things like this, a lot.

It never gets old.

7. When everyone is drunk and you're sober.

Yes, I am going to tell you all the ridiculous things that you did tonight tomorrow morning.

8. Trying to get everyone where they're supposed to be after a long night.

This is not the easiest task, and some nights you've just got to let them sleep on the floor/in that chair/at their desk etc.

8. When the mom friend life gets to be too stressful and someone tells you to calm down.

We keep it cool and collected so everyone else remains calm, but sometimes you just lose it.

9. Giving everyone the pre-exam warm up/pep talk.

I'll still love you if you fail, but make that test your b*itch. Always follow up with a post-exam Netflix binge or ice cream.

10. Entering momma bear mode when a guy hurts one of your friends.

You'll wish you never knew me if you do one of my friends dirty.

11. When the drunk crocodile tears start flowing.

Yes, I see the picture of the puppy, please stop crying.

12. Moderating fights between the group so they don't get out of hand.

Every group has spats; Mom just moderates to make sure nothing especially hurtful is said. If you get in a fight with the mom friend, then quickly seek another mom friend.

13. You're usually Leslie Knope at parties.

14. Somehow being able to get all your friends to one place, and back, in one piece.

There are nights where you have to give yourself a pat on the back, because it took some magic to do what you did.

15. Trying to conjure up a solution to a problem you don't know how to handle.

We don't have all the answers, sometimes we just want to go out and find a more "adultier" adult.

16. Sitting down at the end of the night thinking about all of your friends.

No matter how much I take care of my friends, or how many stupid things they do, I'll always love them and I know they'll always love me for what I do. I wouldn't dream of trading being the mom friend.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
