The Every Girl

As I sat here wondering what my next article will be about, I couldn't help but relate this to Carrie Bradshaw sitting at her desk in New York City figuring out what her next article would be about. At that moment, I suddenly realized how much "Sex and the City" has affected my life. And if you haven't seen "Sex and the City," exit out of this article and head to Amazon right now, where all the seasons are there for you (thank you, Amazon Prime!).

The hype of "Sex and the City" may have slowed down, but at the end of the day "Sex and the City" is hands down one of the best shows ever to be made. But what makes the show so special? Is it Carrie's fashion? Samantha's strong, independent will? Miranda's toughness? Or Charlotte's search of fairytale love? All in all, each of them make the show so relatable.

The show empowers women, but not just any women, women in their 30's, yet I just hit my 20's and I am hooked on this show, and can relate in all aspects of life. It revolves around men, friendship, and also independency.

Sex and the City may have come to an end, but we can apply the lessons learned from this show. The show may have a lot of glamour and excessive amounts of drama, but behind all that are 4 women trying to live their life. Be Carrie. Be Samantha. Be Miranda. Be Charlotte.

Here are 16 of the most relatable gifs from Carrie and Co.

1. When someone asks you how you workout.

2. When you were supposed to be ready at 8 pm, and it is 8:05 pm and you are still standing in your towel.

3. But then you find that perfect dress.

4. When people start talking about politics.

5. But then the political talk continues and you've had enough.

6. When you're walking home after your friends dragged you out to a party.

7. When you get dumped out of nowhere and don't know what to do with yourself.

8. When you finally get the courage to put yourself first.

9. When all else fails.

10. When you've had enough of looking for "the one."

11. When one of your best friends goes through a break-up.

12. When there's just one thing you really, really want.

13. When someone pisses you off.

14. When you know you look good.

15. When everything just becomes numb.

16. But at the end of the day, you and your girls are all you ever need.

Thank you, Carrie and Co. for putting life in a whole new perspective for all of us. And always remember: "They say nothing lasts forever; dreams change, trends come and go, but friendships never go out of style" -Carrie Bradshaw.

XO,

Alyssa Ellyn

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
