Our mothers have taught us many things: how to use a spoon, how to drive, how to write checks. It isn't until we are grown and living on our own that we realize just how much they taught us. While mothers methods and lessons tend to vary, one thing is for sure, we wouldn't be where we are today without our mothers.

1. Show up 15 minutes early to an appointment

Twenty minutes if you don’t know how to find the place. As an adult I am in the habit of being early at all times. Thats not necessary a bad thing.

2. Have faith

Having faith that things will work out in the end is so important. You are never dealt more than you can handle and you have the ability to see it thorough.

3. Reach your full potential

Being the best isn’t the most important thing in life. As long as you try your hardest you can’t go wrong. If you strive to reach your full potential long enough, it becomes a habit.

4. Don’t let others bring you down

Don’t let peoples negative thoughts or actions hurt you. It will only ruin your day and make life harder for you. Their opinions don’t matter.

5. Stay true to yourself

Its easy to have an existential crisis. I have one at least once a month. However, don’t let anyone define you or your values. Those aspects of your life are entirely up to you.

6. Always carry pepper spray

Better safe than sorry. Keep it on your key chain so its always handy.

7. Be thankful

Its easy to forget how lucky we are. Be the type of person who acknowledges how lucky they are. Be thankful for everyone and everything you have in your life.

8. “Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.”

Life is crazy. Anything can happen to cause things to not work out. Plans change and nothing is guaranteed.

9. Be a courteous driver

The world doesn’t need anymore rude drivers.

10. Be a great friend/sibling/daughter

Be a person who makes the lives of others better, not worse. Behaving badly will scare away true friends and only attract fake friends.

11. Don’t let anyone talk you into doing something you aren’t comfortable with

If you're not comfortable with something it should not be happening. Its a simple as that.

12. Don’t procrastinate

Use time wisely and prioritize. You'll have plenty of time to look at cat videos when your done with your work.

13. Trust your instincts

Your instincts are there for a reason. Trust them. Your instincts are hardly ever wrong.

14. Keep moving forward

The past is the past and you cant change anything that happened.Come to terms with what occurred and keep moving forward.

15. Everything happens for a reason

In the moment it can seem like the world is ending. In the end everything will work out the way it’s supposed to. You'll see.

16. A mothers love is unconditional

A mothers unconditional love is the strongest love there is. There is nothing we can do to make our mothers stop loving us. Even when we mess up they still love us.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
