We all know the weekend: It’s the time when ABC Family, now called Freeform, will play almost all the Harry Potter movies the entire weekend. It happens more than a few times throughout the year and although we’ve seen them all a million times, we watch them anyways. In case you need a reason other than the Harry Potter series being the best series of all time, here are 16 more reasons that you should watch this epic marathon.
1. You end up talking in a British accent for the rest of the day.
And I mean, just how bloody fun is that?
2. It’s calming.
Sure, there’s tons of action and suspense, but the dark setting, rainy scenes and sense of mystery just feel kind of relaxing. HP movies are perfect to watch on dreary days.
3. Little Daniel Radcliffe and his facial expressions are the best.
If you haven’t noticed before, watch the first couple films and you’ll see what I mean.
4. Quoting the all of the lines.
A talent given to all Potterheads, therefore we must make good use of it.
5. Knowing what's going to happen in future movies.
It’s like you have your own personal time-turner.
Ronald Weasley! How dare you say that about your future wife?!
6. It makes you wonder about the students who aren’t around Harry.
Like what do they do? Do they just lead normal wizard lives? What even is a normal wizard life?
7. It makes you rethink mermaids.
I don’t know if that’s a good enough reason, but it is when you compare them to Ariel.
8. To continually be annoyed that Harry does not have his mother’s eyes.
In the books, Harry and Lily’s eyes are supposed to be green. Because Daniel Radcliffe had problems with the contacts, they kept his eyes blue. Yet, when they show young Lily, her eyes are a brownish-green. At least if you’re going to be wrong, be consistent.
9. The spells are especially fun to say and “practice.”
Also, you’re lying if you say you haven’t tried to make up your own!
10. To marvel at everyone's dance moves at the Yule Ball.
When you watch "Goblet of Fire," you'll be amazed when you realize the dancers are all in sync. Sure, they got dance lessons, but even with those, I would be way off.
11. To remind yourself just how horrible Dolores Umbridge is.
I hate that woman with all of my being. As far as I'm concerned, she's worse than Voldemort.
12. It makes you realize how easy you have it.
Yes, you get stressed but at least you don’t have to worry about a dark lord trying to kill you all the time.
13. To appreciate when movie Harry is the same as book Harry.
Book Harry is a sassmaster wizard and when that’s shown on screen, the movies become even better.
14. To relive the glory of our beloved Alan Rickman.
15. Quite honestly, seeing the characters grow up (and go through voice changes) is so amusing.
Just listen to how little they sound!
16. You catch something new or something you forgot every time you watch.
I still laugh, get chills or cry, no matter what.
