15 Ways To Love Yourself
What Have I Learned

Self-confidence isn't the easiest thing to achieve, especially in this day and age. Honestly it may take days, weeks, months, even years. Luckily, the smallest of things can help you reach and go beyond this goal of loving yourself.

1. Tell yourself you're beautiful every single morning.

2. Set your lock screen and other backgrounds to positive quotes.

3. Make a playlist of confidence-boosting songs.

Spotify and iTunes have great ones!

4. Cut anyone toxic out of your life.

No matter how hard that is, cutting negative and toxic people out of your life is essential for growth.

5. Do what you want.

Not what others tell you to do.

6. Let yourself really feel your feelings.

By avoiding your feelings, you're going to shut yourself out from the world and hide your pain. This will only make things work. Open up your heart and let yourself feel.

7. Create a list of positive things you will tell yourself every morning.

After you create this list, tape it to your mirror. That way you will never miss seeing it. Read it aloud to yourself and really make yourself mean what you say.

8. Write your feelings out.

Writing doesn't always have to be so elegant and full of dramatic language. Simple writing is extremely therapeutic.

9. Have faith in yourself.

10. Live your life.

Force yourself to go outside and get some fresh air. Go for a walk to clear your mind.

11. Stand back and take a deep breath.

Don't overwhelm yourself so much. Take a break from life for a minute and just take a few deep breaths to calm yourself down.

12. Speak your mind.

Be nice about it, but if you have something to say then say it. Exercise your first amendment right!

13. Don't let people walk all over you.

Stand up for yourself if you feel like you're being taken advantage of. There's nothing wrong with knowing you're worth more than what someone gives you.

14. Do what you love.

No matter what it is -- from art to sports -- doing what you love will help you have a clear head and move forward with your struggles.

15. Forgive yourself.

Everyone makes mistakes. Don't hate yourself for messing up every once in a while because even the people who look perfect have messed up before. No one is perfect, and being forgiving is great, but truly being forgiving is forgiving yourself for any mistakes you've made in your life.

With this you can F.L.Y. (first love yourself).

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
