15 Things The Army Taught Me
Brandon Pritchett

  1. It’s all or nothing.
If you're not going to give everything your absolute best effort, it's not even worth your time to try. Give it 100% each and every time.
  2. Be respectful.
This is self explanatory. Treat people how you'd like to be treated.
  3. Have courage.
Growth never came from comfort zones. Take a chance and don't settle for mediocrity. Have courage, and put the well being of the group before you own personal interests. Don't be afraid to take a step out on a ledge and take care of business. You're the best of the best.
  4. Be confident.
Whether you're right or wrong, have confidence in whatever it is that you're doing. If you're wrong, at least you said it like you actually believe in yourself. Confidence is crucial in everything. If you don't believe in yourself, nobody else will either.
  5. Take time for yourself.
Your own mental health is incredibly important. After working so hard for so long, you can't forget that you also need time to recover and settle down. Even though life gets tough – don't forget to take a little "me" time.
  6. Time management.
"If you're early, you're on time. If you're on time, you're late."
  7. Attention to detail.
Pay attention to every little thing. This could be mean the difference between life or death.
  8. Listen carefully the first time.
You don't have time to waste going over things that have already been covered. Pay attention the first time to save everyone a headache.
  9. Look presentable at all times.
You never know who you'll meet.
  10. Stand up for yourself.
This goes along with having confidence. People will challenge your beliefs constantly, but you have you stand your ground.
  11. Adjust to change.
The only constant in this business is change. Nothing will usually go as planned and you have to be able to quickly adjust and move on. Civilian life works in the same way. Nothing ever really goes how you planned but if you're able to quickly adjust, that's what people will notice and admire.
  12. Have patience.
"Hurry up and wait" isn't just a motto; it's literally a way of life. Take life one moment at a time.
  13. Set the standard.
Settling for being average is never acceptable. Know the standard and excel. Never willingly let someone outshine you. Try to be the absolute best at everything you do. No exceptions.
  14. Take care of each other.
You can't do life alone. Sometimes it takes a friend or family member to ask you if you need help before you go seek it. Take the time to check in on other people to make sure that they're doing well. Hopefully, they'll return the favor if you ever needed it.
  15. Hunt the good stuff.
We all know that life isn't always sunshine, puppies, and rainbows, and that's okay. What ultimately matters, is how you look beyond that and handle everything over all. Even in your darkest hour, don't forget to hunt the good stuff, because that's what makes it all worth while.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
