If you are pledging a recognized -- or unrecognized -- sorority or fraternity, you more than likely have to go to library hours. Library hours are that special time your pledge moms -- or dads -- specifically put aside so you and your pledge class can bond, practice traditions, and get your work done. Here's a fly-on-the-wall perspective inside the walls of library hours.
1. Noise. A lot of noise.
Talking on top of each other, laughing, music, basically any noise you can think of is probably going on within the four walls.
2. Plot twist: library hours aren't always in the library.
If you have a large pledge class, typically the "library" is actually a lecture hall or a classroom in an academic building.
3. Sisters come by and say hi, and all your good intentions of doing homework go right out the window.
4. Random dance parties. Every time.
When college students have access to computers it turns into throwback central.
5. Eating, or planning to go eat, or ordering food to be delivered.
6. Photoshoots.
When someone does something funny you all need to capture it on Snapchat or send it in the GroupMe. If it's really funny it'll even be accidentally sent in the GroupMe with your pledge brothers.
7. Occasionally, actual studying does occur.
Having a group of girls from various majors and ages means someone has taken your class at some point.
8. Plotting and planning.
When big/little time comes around, we tend to go into sleuth mode and social media-stalk all of our potential bigs and overanalyze every clue we have been given.
9. Bonding with the sisters is also a common thing.
The pledges are like shiny new toys, and having us all together in one place for a set amount of time makes it easier to get to know us.
10. Laughing happens, too.
Obnoxious, loud laughing, or quiet giggles, it's all the same when you're having fun with the people you love.
11. We become instant MCs and DJs.
YouTube becomes our friend and we jam out when no one's watching.
12. Gossip, gossip, gossip.
We are a group of girls, of course we are going to talk about guy drama, friend drama and everything in between. Even if it's something funny we heard on the bus, it's probably going to be shared.
13. Constant GroupMe chatting.
Either with your pledge brothers or with each other when other people are in the room and things can't be said, that app never gets a rest.
14. Nap time. I don't know about anyone else but whether it's 10 a.m. or 9 p.m.,
chances of me wearing sweats and a T-shirt are pretty high, and what better place to take a power nap than sitting at a table or curled up in a corner.
15. A strong bond within your pledge class is created.
And you know they will always love you, and if you need anything at anytime, these girls will be there for you 100 percent.
