Oh the joy of having a birthday in December. Who am I kidding, there is no joy. From the time you're born you realize that your birthday has become an inconvenience to those around you and is continually overshadowed by the holiday season. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanzaa, I'm sure you can relate to this list of 15 things December babies are all too familiar with.

1. Everyone’s broke

Even yourself, like how can I afford a party? And everyone else is busy buying holiday presents.

2. Everyone’s bored of present shopping

Okay not my problem. I deserve gifts too.

3. People’s schedules are packed

Once again, no party for me. I haven't had a birthday celebration since elementary school because of this very reason.

4. Everyone forgets the actual date

General calls in mid-December by distant family relatives are pretty standard.

5. Joint parties

"Oh we're having a holiday party and there's gonna be a birthday cake for you!" No thanks.

6. People wrap your presents in Christmas paper

Would a couple of balloons kill you?

7. Two in one gifts

Actually, let's entertain the radical notion of just celebrating two separate holiday! No? Okay then.

8. You wait all year for one celebration

I have NOTHING else to look forward to this year.

9. Finals

Do I look like I want to take a 2 hour long exam right now? I should be partying.

10. Snow

No one wants to go outside.

11. People constantly reminding you it sucks

Thanks, I hadn't realized.

12. You can’t travel anywhere

Traveling in December not only takes forever but is hella expensive.

13. Christmas decorations everywhere

I just want some balloons and not tinsel for once.

14. After years go by you become apathetic

Seriously, I could care less anymore. What's a birthday?

15. Always upstaged by the ultimate December baby

Yup, I went there.

Chip up December babies, there's always the next holiday season -I mean birthday.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
