I've had long hair for years. Today, it almost reaches my waist and I'm a sophomore in college. It is sometimes too much work and I just want to cut it all off.

Here are some struggles I go through with my long hair.

1. You go through a lot of ponytail holders.

Maybe because they get lost in your hair. Or because you need really good support so they get super stretched out and break easily. Either way, you better have an endless amount.

2. It takes strategic planning to make your hair look good.

For me, I have to wash my hair, let it halfway dry, then braid it and sleep on it. That's how I get perfect waves and I have to make sure I do it the day before I have plans where I need to look decent.

3. It takes a long time to brush your hair.

You have to make sure there are no knots and it lays smoothly because the second you move, a knot will form and you have to do it again.

4. And there's always a lot of hair stuck in your brush.

It's gross and people will notice it before you do.

5. The wind is your enemy.

Nothing like having your hair wrapped around your face because of the wind. And it's extremely annoying and makes your hair extra messy and knotty.

6. Buns are nearly impossible to have on top of your head.

Because there's so much hair, it'll just droop down.

7. You hate washing your hair every day.

There's just so much hair, it's a pain to wash!

8. You go through shampoo like nobody's business.

Lots of hair = lots of shampoo

9. It takes forever for your hair to dry after a shower.

Once again, you have a lot of hair. So it's obviously going to take more time for it to dry.

10. It's extra staticky in the winter.

You have not experienced true annoyance if you haven't dealt with long, staticky hair in the winter. I recommend bushing your hair out with a dryer sheet, but it won't last more than 10 minutes,

11. People find your hair everywhere.

It falls out and people know it's yours because the strands are super long.

12. It costs a lot of money to have your hair dyed.

I don't personally dye my hair, but I can imagine it would be way too expensive to dye this much hair.

13. It takes forever to straighten your hair.

I don't do this very often because it takes at least a half hour to make it perfect.

14. And it takes even longer to curl it.

I never curl my hair because that takes even longer to do.

15. You tend to zip up your hair when wearing coats.

RIP to those hairs that have been pulled out because of zippers.

But in the end, you're too afraid to cut it all off.

Long hair is quite annoying, but it's worth it. I'd rather have long, flowing locks than short hair. I can put up with it and I'm used to it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
