If you work in retail and haven't asked yourself "Why do I put up with this?" or haven't thought about quiting, congrats! You're probably new and haven't had a customer yell at you for something they did wrong. Don't get me wrong, sometimes we get really lucky and have customers that make our shift seem a little better, but on some days finding a customer like that is like finding a needle in a haystack. Here are some struggles that all of us in retail have or will face at one point or another.

1. Using your customer service voice

I promise you, I don't sound like this outside of work.

2. Wanting more hours but not wanting to work

3. Customers coming in five minutes before you close

You had all day to shop, so why come when we're about to close?

4. Getting asked "Do you work here?" all the time

No, I stole this name badge and I'm pretending to be an associate.

5. Your hour break literally feels like 10 minutes

6. Customers trying to cut into your break time

7. Explaining to a customer they can't use a coupon on a certain item

8. Customers running away to grab more things in the middle of a transaction

9. Explaining to a customer they can't swipe because they have a chip

Trust me, we hate it just as much as you.

10. The one kid who comes in and has to touch every last thing

Dear parents, please control your children.

11. Telling a customer their card is declined

12. Missing price tags on items

No, this does not mean the items are free.

13. When your friends make plans for the holidays, but you know you have work

14. Customers trying to return worn clothes

15. When Customers try to make jokes

This is my exact expression, every single time.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
