Missing summer 2019 already?

Here is a glimpse into my playlist this summer. 10 songs brand new or less than a year old to add to your playlist. From smaller artists like Bad Suns to rising rock favorites, Greta Van Fleet.

There is a little bit for everyone as the 10 songs cross multiple genres including alternative, rock, electronic, and more.

Greta Van Fleet - When The Curtain Falls

Greta Van Fleet has taken the world by storm after the release of their debut album and their two EPs. The band consists of three brothers and a childhood friend ranging from the ages of 20 to 23.

The American rock band is from Frankenmuth, Michigan, a small city known for having the World's Largest Christmas Store. With success at such a young age, the band has played venues with a larger capacity than their hometown.

"When The Curtain Falls" is a single off their debut album that recently turned a year old. If you are missing music like the greats of Led Zeppelin — I found you the perfect new band. Greta Van Fleet is often compared to their style and Robert Plant has nothing but nice things to say about the group.

Add "When The Curtain Falls" to your playlist and I guarantee you'll be joining the giant group of people waiting for their highly anticipated sophomore album.

The Struts - Dancing In The Street

The Struts brought glam rock back and don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

This past year, since the release of their sophomore album, "Young and Dangerous," The Struts have dominated the global music scene. From touring around the world and collaborating with brands to releasing new singles and killing their social media game.

The Struts have found the answer to growing success.

The British rock band known for covering songs live like "Dancing In The Dark" and finding a Courtney Cox every night released a recorded cover over the summer of "Dancing In The Street."

"Dancing In The Street" written by Marvin Gaye, William "Mickey" Stevenson, and Ivy Jo Hunter and covered by many artists including a David Bowie and Mick Jagger duet.

Wallows - Scrawny

After watching the music video for "Scrawny" you might be asking yourself, "Why have I seen the singer before?"

Well, that's Clay Jensen from 13 Reasons Why.

Dylan Minnette, a successful actor and musician, is in the band Wallows with Braeden Lemasters, who is also an actor, and Cole Preston.

Wallows released their debut album on March 22, 2019, and have reached an incredible amount of success in the indie rock genre. The band has even collaborated with well-known artists like Clairo on the song "Are You Bored Yet?"

"Scrawny" is the perfect song to add to your playlist and the video is worth watching.

Foster The People - Imagination

A highly anticipated fourth album might be in the works for Foster The People after the successful release of their third album "Sacred Hearts Club."

Lead singer, Mark Foster, stated in a live video chat, "We're going to be dropping music every 6 weeks or so. Instead of dropping an album we are doing something different this year; dropping singles, that's the goal."

"Imagination" is the third song released since November 2018. "Worst Nites" and "Style" were released before the summer.

"Imagination" has a different take on alternative than the band has taken before incorporating a unique guitar riff and a soft melody. Each song released after their third album has had a unique sound and it has fans excited for the fourth record!

Two Door Cinema Club - Satellite

Two Door Cinema Club reached immediate success following their debut album "Tourist History" in 2010. The Irish indie rock group is no stranger to the music scene and has reached an audience crossing multiple genres.

The band released their fourth album "False Alarm" on June 21, 2019. "Satellite" is one of the many hits from the album. The song incorporates a similar yet different sound.

"Satellite" starts out with deeper vocals and the chorus sounds like a traditional Two Door Cinema Club melody. The song is perfect for anyone missing an 80s sound.

Jai Wolf - Lose My Mind feat. Mr Gabriel

Jai Wolf is loved by many fans in the EDM and rave scene but he has a generous following from alternative listeners. Many songs like "Lose My Mind" have elements of a traditional alternative song.

A catchy song with a unique beat. "Lose My Mind" has all the perfect elements.

For more like this, listen to Jai Wolf's debut album, "The Cure to Loneliness." His debut album was released on April 5, 2019. You can also check out Mr Gabriel, who was featured on the song.

The Amazons - 25

The Amazons, a British rock band, known for their alternative rock style are back with their sophomore album, "Future Dust."

The Amazons reached success in the United Kingdom reaching No. 8 on the UK album charts for their self-titled debut album and were named a band to listen to by NME, BBC Radio 1 and The Independent.

The band's sophomore album focuses on a more hard rock sound than their debut album, which incorporates more alternative rock elements. "Future Dust," which peaked at No. 9 on the UK album charts, was released on May 24, 2019.

The Amazons went into the recording process with rock and roll on their mind. "Especially with the music that we were very intent on making, kind of unapologetic rock and roll," said Matt Thompson, lead singer of the band.

For more songs like "25" make sure to listen to the rest of "Future Dust."

STICKY FINGERS - SUNSICK MOON

Another year, another must-have on your playlist.

Sticky Fingers is an Australian alternative rock band with a reggae influence. With four records to their name and all of Australia behind their back, Sticky Fingers is a well-known name in the music business.

Fans were ecstatic when the band announced the release of their fourth studio album, "Yours to Keep." The band had previously announced a hiatus and left fans worried about their return.

Now Sticky Fingers is back and better than ever! Their fourth album was released earlier this year on Feb. 8, 2019. The band has the perfect summer sound as it is feel-good music!

Make sure to add Sticky Fingers to your playlist and listen to their discovery!

Bad Suns - One Magic Moment

Bad Suns, the Los Angeles native alternative rock band, released their third album, "Mystic Truth" on March 22, 2019. "Mystic Truth" has the classic Bad Suns sound with a noticeable maturity to their sound.

The music on each song is polished and the vocals are outstanding. The fans have already learned every word to each song and have been singing along at each show since the release of the album. The band has heavily toured pre and post album release!

Hopefully you'll get to see Bad Suns on their upcoming tour because their live shows are even better than their records, which is hard to do!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
