If you know me, you know that, apart from my cat, Margot June, and Harry Styles' near perfect hands, (I'm pretty sure that they're made out of Funyun crumbs and liquid gold, tbh) music is one of the most important things in my life.
If I'm not listening to music, I am singing along to music. If I am not singing along to music, I am reading about music. And if I am not reading about music, I am stressing out about buying tickets to see live music performances.
So, yeah. Music is a bit of big deal for me.
Now, being the all-knowing, musically tasteful saint that I am, (LOL) I decided to share with you all, fifteen of my absolute favorite songs at the moment that you should probably go listen to right now.
You're welcome in advance.
1. Home By Now by Bombay Bicycle Club
2. Boyfriend by Best Coast
Okay, friends. This is the song that you listen to when you are absolutely smitten with that boy in your history class, and you want nothing more than to kiss him in the mouth, but you're shy and a little awkward and your emotions are all over the place. It is also very '70s sounding, so, if you're into that sort of thing, this one is definitely for you.
3. All I Want by Kodaline
This song will make you cry, but, based on the cover art, you've probably already gathered that much. I highly recommend listening to it after watching a sad movie on a rainy day, but, then again, I also like destroying myself psychologically.
4. Disconnected (Live) by 5 Seconds of Summer
All right, I'm obviously 5SOS AF, so this shouldn't come as such a shock. "Disconnected" is my all time favorite song by them, and I highly suggest/demand that you listen to it. Plus, the live version is magical. The message of the song is really cool, too. Technology is weird, man...
5. Babylon (Live) by Nina Nesbitt
This is the perfect sleepy time song, my friends--so, so, so beautiful. She's a bit underground and indie, so to speak, but Nina Nesbitt has the most unique and cute little voice ever.
6. Hair by Little Mix
Have a guy that ignores you, hurts you, and just generally treats you like sh*t? WELL, GET HIM OUT OF YOUR HAIR. This song is for anyone going through bad breakup or an awful falling out with a friend. Also, it helps that the girls of Little Mix are hilarious, gorgeous, and insanely talented. They are hashtag everything goals.
7. Fallingforyou by The 1975
This may not quite be my favorite song, but it is probably my most listened to song. If you only listen to one song from this article, please let it be this one. Please, please, please. Honestly, just do your ears a favor. I won't say any more than that.
8. Dreaming by Smallpools
First of all, let me just give a shoutout to my roommate, Hayley, for introducing me to Smallpools. They breathe life into my very soul, and I can't wait to see them in concert this month. Now this song I suggest listening to while you're showering in the morning. It'll get you dancing--hopefully not slipping--and ready to take on the day.
9. I Can't Make You Love Me/Nick of Time by Bon Iver
A lot of you or going to think that I'm "super basic" for including this song, but what the f*ck ever. I love this song. I love the music, I love the lyrics, and I love bawling my eyes out onto my cat's fur while listening to it. *flippy hair emoji*
10. Clouds by One Direction
Do not even pretend that you didn't see this coming. I don't care who you are; you very well know that One Direction are the human equivalent to acquiring eight king-sized Twix bars–you don't necessarily need them, but they sure are nice to have. I promise you, this song will get you so jacked. I honestly feel like free-climbing the Willis Tower every time that I think about it. And drinking twelve 5 Hour Energies. And punching a brick wall.
11. I See Fire by Ed Sheeran
If you don't already think that Ed Sheeran is a celestial being, made purely of unicorn tears, angel hair, and melted Nutella, then this song will surely change your mind. I don't even have the words to describe this song, but I will try. *clears throat*
Guitar. Perfection. Adorable. Eargasm. Falsetto. Help. Dying. Please. UGH. CRYING.
That was awful. See? I told you I couldn't find the words.
12. Colors by Halsey
Okay I'm not a huge Halsey fan, but this song is amazing. Even if you don't particularly like the music, it is impossible not to appreciate the lyrics. A talented, unique, literally mind, that girl is. (Also, can we all just take a minute to gape at how freaking amazing her hair is? There are so many heart eyes emojis in my body right now.)
13. Home by Gabrielle Aplin
There is no song that I sing more than this one. Gabrielle Aplin's voice is so high and beautiful and soft and it makes me want to cuddle so many babies and do so many cartwheels. Very uplifting, very different. I also dare you to try to sing it without an accent. Hint: it is impossible.
14. Young Blood by The Naked and Famous
Okay, I know that this one is old, but I am seriously just now discovering it, and IT IS SO GOOD. If you have a road trip with your best friends to see your favorite boyband coming up, I highly recommend listening to this one. However if not, you should probably still listen to it.
15. Say My Name by Odesza
In the rare event that I listen to music while doing my homework, this is always my go-to song. This has a more electronic sound to it, but it's really unique, and, honestly, who doesn't love when singers have British accents? Liars, that's who.
Whoop, there it is. Fifteen of my favorite songs, at the moment, that you should most definitely go listen to. Immediately after this. So, like, right now.
Seriously.
I'm not kidding.
GO.
(Love you all. Thanks for reading. Stay rad, stay bad, andhappy listening!)
