15 Signs You're From The Lone Star State Of Texas

Texas, a state that was once it's own country, where you can find Texas shaped waffles, great Tex-mex, and large amounts of pride. It is easy to tell Texans apart from the rest of the country, and here's how:

1. Y'all is a common word in your vocabulary

You all? No, it's y'all.

2. Tex-Mex is always an option

Chinese? Nah, not today. Tex-Mex is where it's at. What is Tex-Mex, one may ask? Mexican food made in Texas, and there's nothing like it.

3. Margaritas are your go-to drink

Margaritas are the best thing to drink with that yummy Tex-Mex. But take it slow, because like the song says, tequila makes her clothes fall off.

4. Football is life

Football isn't just a sport. It is a religion, a way of life.

5. You drive a truck

As said before, everything is bigger and better in Texas.

6. You greatly depend on rain to come through for you

You often find yourself wishing for those flood waters so that you don't have to go to work or school. When it rains, it pours.

7. Spare time is spent at the rodeo

Whether it be Houston, Lubbock, San Antonio, or any of the other rodeos that take place in Texas. It's ritual to attend and go big or go home.

8. Queso is your addiction

To many, queso is just a word that means cheese. To Texans, queso is Heaven in your mouth. With chips and queso, it's eat it all or eat none. Once you start, you cannot stop.

9. You love Blue Bell

I think the Blue Bell recall hit Texans harder than any other state. Texas saw hope again once Blue Bell was restored.

10. Mums make you broke

At some point, we have all experienced the deathly cost of a mum at homecoming time. It's a Texas tradition. Once again, go big or go home.

11. Whataburger is your hangout spot after a long night of partying

Did someone say Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit at 2am? Yes, please!

12. Floating the river is a form of vacation

Whether it be the Guadalupe, Comal, Brazos, or even the San Marcos river, nothing is better than a little (or a lot, we're is Texas) sunlight, country music and beer on a beautiful summer day.

13. You enjoy Schlitterbahn

No matter how old or young, Schlitterbahn is always a good time.

14. You change your outfit multiple times a day due to the weather

It's cold in the morning, hot in the afternoon and raining tomorrow. It's impossible to have the perfect outfit suitable for Texas weather.

15. You love Buc-ee's

I would just like to know.. what kind of human being are you if you don't stop at Buc-ee's? No a Texan that's for sure.

Texas: where everything is bigger and better.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
