Sushi. If you're like me, you'll do just about anything to devour a few (or seven) rolls. Here are some signs that your love for sushi might be an addiction...
1. It's the first thing you suggest when your friends want to eat out.
They'll probably roll their eyes at you, but who wants tacos or pasta when you can sample the creations of sushi masters?
2. You know all the best sushi places in your town.
You also know which ones to avoid like the plague. Not all sushi is created equally, obviously.
3. Your wallet hates you.
Sushi isn't a cheap addiction. Sometimes you have to settle for grocery store sushi, but it's worth it.
4. Your heart breaks when someone eats the last piece of your favorite roll.
If you eat the last piece of the tuna avocado roll, then I probably won't talk to you for a week. Sorry, not sorry.
5. You have your order perfected.
One spicy scallop, one rainbow, one shrimp tempura and maybe a California roll depending on how hungry I'm feeling. Go big or go home.
6. You know exactly how much to order depending on who you're with.
Two rolls per person is standard, but if you're eating with other sushi addicts you can expect for things to get out of hand. Even if you order too much, you always find a way to finish it.
7. You always eat significantly more when you're out with your parents.
Thank you, Mom and Dad, for loving sushi too. Oh, and thank you for paying the check. Love you!
8. It's the number one food you crave, any time of day.
When I went to college, I made my mom bring me sushi during Family Weekend. I may or may not have eaten it for breakfast.
9. You have your favorites, but you're always open for suggestions.
I used to refuse to eat sushi with raw fish. I regret all the years I spent without tuna rolls in my life.
10. Hearing someone say they don't like / have never tried sushi pains you.
Seriously, you're lucky if we're friends and you don't like sushi. I'm offended when I see people order chicken teriyaki at sushi bars.
11. Seeing Snapchat stories of other people eating sushi makes you jealous.
I wish I could transport myself through my phone and join you in your sushi feast.
12. You've gotten sick from eating bad sushi, but that won't stop you.
It also is a valid excuse because everyone knows you love sushi and don't always use judgment when it comes to eating it.
13. A week without sushi is seven days too many.
I haven't had sushi in two weeks and I'm definitely going through withdraw.
14. You've developed an incredible talent for using chopsticks.
Eating sushi with your hands is for savages! Unless it starts falling apart, then using your hands might be necessary.
15. You've tried making sushi at home, but decided it was better to leave it to the pros.
Making sushi is not as easy as it looks. Shout out to all the people who can whip out rolls in a matter of seconds, I'd like to have a talent like you.
If you can relate to a majority of these, then you are probably addicted to sushi too. Don't worry, it's one of the tastiest addictions around.
