I may have plans to move to the big city as soon as I graduate college, but I will never deny where I came from. This sweet, special little town may not have tall buildings, bright lights or even a movie theater...but we do have a lot of open spaces and amazing people.
Being in college for over two years now has made me realize how special Waynesboro is compared to other places in Georgia. No town or city will ever replace the spot this unique country town has in my heart, even if I do move somewhere that actually has a Chick-fil-A.
Here are 15 signs that you live in Waynesboro, Ga.:
1. When you tell people from any other area in Georgia that you're from Waynesboro, they just shake their heads and pretend they know where or what that is.
2. If you want to go see a movie, shop anywhere other than Citi Trends or WalMart or even treat yourself to some froyo....you have to drive at least 45 minutes.
3. If you hear the words, "we are getting a Chick-fil-A!", you know no part of that is true.
4. Pineland Bakery is THE best bakery in the world. No joke. No exaggeration.
5. You either go to the public school or the private school. Otherwise, you don't go to high school....because those are the only options.
6. The day Taco Bell/KFC was built was one of the best days ever.
7. Bi-Lo is not a place for loitering...even though Bi-Lo is the best place to loiter, well except Sonic. Luckily, they share the same parking lot.
8. If you do go to the private school, you probably got hit by the water coming from the pivot when you drive by the field directly across the street.
9. If you want to go to any sort of party, be ready to drive thirty minutes and expect it to be in a field.
10. You know everyone, their relatives, what business they own, where they live, where they go to school, what car they drive, where they work, their middle name, their grandparents' names and let's face it...probably their social security number.
11. Camino Real, aka "The Mexican" is the place to go on basically any occasion...birthdays, post athletic events, when relatives visit, lunch breaks, family dinners, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays....yeah any day is acceptable.
12. RIP Mobley's Cafeteria. Sunday's after church will never be the same.
13. 4G will never be a thing. At least, if you have Verizon, but to be honest, you need Verizon or you don't need a cell phone.
14. The nearest interstate is about an hour away. Sweet.
15. We are the Bird Dog Capitol of the world and we are very proud of it.
