If you're a fan of “The Office," you're probably familiar with the scene in which Michael Scott and his coworker Dwight Schrute blindly follow their new GPS system and end up with their car in a river. Unfortunately, I had a sudden realization while following my phone's GPS the other day: I am Michael Scott. If my phone told me to drive into a lake, I probably would, because I have no faith in my own ability to find my way home and I blindly rely on Google Maps to get me anywhere. If most of the following apply to you, you're probably directionally challenged too…
1.The first time you drove on your own, you got lost.
2. You've gotten lost in your hometown, and you don't even live in a big city.
3. You've gone for a run that ended up being three times as long as you expected because you forgot your original route.
4. You've driven around crying because your phone died and you never thought you'd make it home.
5. Sometimes you put directions into your phone or GPS even though you know how to find your destination, just in case. It's sort of like adding 5+3 on a calculator during a math exam — you know you know it, but why take the risk?
6. You've had to cross four lanes of traffic at the last minute to make a left turn that you weren't expecting.
7. If you're with a group of friends, you tend to just blindly follow them. You feel uncomfortable walking at the front of a group.
8. Maps make no sense to you.
9. You've stopped at a gas station to ask for directional help.
10. You've subsequently forgotten what the first gas station attendant told you and stopped at another gas station to ask for directional help.
11. If you're going somewhere unfamiliar, you'd rather someone else drove.
12. At least one quarter of your calls to your parents begin with, “I'm lost."
13. You hate when the directions say “head west on ___." If you knew which way west was, you wouldn't need the directions in the first place.
14. Uber is a good friend of yours.
15. You're forever grateful to the people in your life that understand how to get from point A to point B. …But maybe it's just me.
