Each person grows up at a different pace, no one actually matures or becomes an adult when society would like them too. According to biology, females will mature before males, and it could be true in some cases. Personally, it is believed to depend on the person and the situation. Some people will mature as children while others will not mature until they have a mid-life crisis. Either way, usually every person will come to realize similar things when it is time for them to grow up and move on with their life. Life is a game, a journey, and a marathon; it's nothing to be taken lightly, but it's something to cherish and take time with. No one has an easy life, at one point or another a person is going to face a challenge that will change their life for better or worse, but either way they will learn from their mistakes.
1. Money
There comes a point in everyone's life where money is an object, and it is unfortunately necessary for survival in most societies. This is when a person realizes that they need to use their money for necessities rather than things they want, and they stop asking their parents for money all of the time. It's when a person starts using their own money rather than others.
2. Responsibilities
Each person will slowly gain more and more responsibilities over time. An adult realizes that their responsibilities come before fun time or before relaxing. A child becomes an adult when they stop putting chores off until the next day.
3. New and Old Friends
Part of growing up means meeting new people and gaining new friends, but it can also mean letting go of old friends. Letting go of a person is hard and it'll always hurt, but a part of growing up is learning how to deal with the hurt.
4. Education
A person never stops learning, whether or not a person goes to college or a different version of higher education doesn't matter. The mature thing is realizing whether or not a higher education is meant for that person.
5. Careers or Jobs
No one can call themselves an adult if they have never had a job. Without ever having a job, a person will miss out on certain lessons that are important for everyone to learn. It isn't healthy to live a sheltered life and to avoid things that are scary.
6. Payments
Unfortunately, not everyone will be educated on the impacts a payment can make on a single person. When a person has a job and they are given their payment, they are given what they need to survive and maybe something to help satisfy their desires.
7. Temptations
As an adult, there aren't as many people saying what a person has to do. Rather, an adult is given suggestions when a child is given instructions. There aren't many people who can stop a person from buying whatever they want if said person has the money for it.
8. Maturity
This is talking about each person's actions. Becoming an adult is not only recognizing the high road, but also realizing the benefits of taking the high road.
9. Play Time
Not many adults find the playground to be as fun as a child does. This doesn't mean that adults don't have fun, it is just a different fun. A teenager might find it more fun to go to a football game or school dance when an adult would rather go out with friends for a bite to eat or tour a museum.
10. Changes
Change: such a small word, yet it has a lot of meaning to it. Everyone goes through it, it doesn't stop even after a person dies. Change keeps happening, a child will only see the good changes and think they are invincible, while an adult will accept all of the changes and accept that they are not anywhere close to invincible.
11. Cleaning
As a child or even teenager, a person might not feel the need to keep everything clean, or to even clean up before company comes to visit. At some point in a person's life, it becomes obvious that a messy living space isn't healthy or acceptable; so they either hide it or clean it up.
12. Taking Care of Others
This is one of the ways that people will mature in different ways. Some people will start caring for others at a very young age, and society will usually deem this unfit because of age. Others won't start caring for others until they don't have a choice but to care for that person.
13. Experience in the World
As a person gets older, they learn more about the world, and they gain more experience. By the time a person is an adult in the eyes of society, they will have gone through many obstacles that have given them experience for future situations.
14. Time
As a person gets older, time seems to go by faster -- an hour won't go by faster, but a person might feel as though college years flew by, and now they have to go and get a job. Scary stuff.
15. Style
A person's dress style, attitude, and actions will all change as a person matures. No one can go through their entire life walking around in a unicorn shirt or light up sneakers. Nor is it very professional for a person to attend every event in a crop top or snap back. Over time, each person will change their style.
The biggest clue to realizing a person is an adult is recognizing the mistakes of the past and learning from them. It is realizing that everyday a person will learn something new, no matter their age. The worst part about becoming an adult is coming to the conclusion that a person has no idea what is going on, but that they have no choice but to keep moving on even when they are afraid.
