Her Campus

With school starting up again, it is time to start buying school supplies again. Pens, pencils, notebooks....remember when we bought really fun school supplies!? And going school supply shopping was our favorite event, as first day of school rolled around? There were so many awesome things we bought, to make sure we were the coolest kid with the coolest supplies in the class. There are so many fun supplies we have forgotten about....and I am about to run to the store really quick to buy again!

1. Book Socks

Because you had to keep your books safe from harm or have your parents pay for them, and you were not about to let that happen....again.

2. Pencil boxes

Because they were so much cooler than pencil pouches. Looking back, I have no idea why. They just were.

3. Purple Glue

It went on purple, and dried clear. Witchcraft at its finest.

4. These bad-boys

Oh my, these pens were to die for. The more colors, the better. It was 10 pens in ONE. Literally the best invention, like, ever.

5. Pencil grippers

We needed pencil grippers because....pencils were hard to hold? Or were they just cool to have? Either way, admit it-it made pencils harder to hold, anyway.

6. Fancy scissors

Every construction paper craft you did would now be extra fancy.

7. Scented Markers

If the markers were not scented, what was the point? Looking back, most of the markers except for, like, three smelled horrible anyway.

8. The biggest pack of crayons available. Bonus points if it came with a crayon sharpener.

These big 'ol boxes had colors you did not even know existed. And we all secretly knew the crayon sharpener did not even work well, but it still made us feel cooler to have.

9. Anything and everything by Lisa Frank

So cute, so colorful, so trendy. Even boys in the class wanted Lisa Frank, too. Lisa Frank was for everyone.

10. Blow pens

Just....why? Who invented these!? They totally just made us dizzy and we all know at least one person that passed out from using these.

11. These writing utensil mistakes

Once you lost one of the pencil inserts, it was game over.

12. Liquid glue

Because we spent more time putting it on our hands, letting it dry, and peeling it off than we did actually using the glue for its intended purpose.

13. Gel pens.

Bonus points if yours were sparkly and/or scented.

14. These marker/stamp combos

I definitely do not ever remember buying these, but somehow at the end of the school year, I would have a couple in my art case....do I owe someone a couple dollars or something for all of these I brought home over the years?

15. The holy grail of all art supplies

Only the luckiest kids whose parents loved them got these art cases, which came with everything. Markers, colored pencils, crayons, chalk, paint, glue, mini scissors, and eraser....bliss.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
