Getting a pixie cut was one of the scariest days of my life, going from the long blonde hair to shaved at the sides and back was something I had dreamed of but never had the guts to do.

Until one day, I did it.

Ever since I've been telling everyone i know to lose the locks and join the pixie club. Here's 15 reasons why.

1. Your head feels lighter.

I had never truly realized how heavy mid-back long hair was until i got rid of it, and believe me - it's heavy. It feels like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders (well, it has) and your head is much easier to move around. Almost like getting used to wearing a helmet, then once you take it off your head spins around a lot faster than intended.

2. The wind feels amazing on the back of your head.

Having long hair means the back of your head is constantly covered, once it's gone and there's nothing in the way; there's not much better than cool air hitting skin where it usually can't.

3. Your head is so much cooler.

I definitely underestimated how much long hair insulates your head. This was constantly a struggle in summer time when you're sweating and you just want to feel cooler. With no hair, there's no problem! Your neck is cooler and as is your entire head.

4. Any damage to your hair is immediately gone.

If you have troubles with your split ends, or if your hair just feels dry and gross; cut that s**t off. Not only does it make you feel better, your hair thanks you.

5. Baby soft hair, anyone?

This one plays off number four, but it's so important that it needed its own point. Once you cut all the damage and dead off, all that's left is healthy hair. I thought I head soft and healthy hair before, boy was I wrong. Anytime I touch my head it feels like I'm rubbing a newborn babies hair.

6. Save money on hair products!

Whenever I thought about cutting my hair off, saving money was always one of the first things that popped into my head. Less hair means less shampoo and conditioner. It never really hit me how much less you can use. Instead of basically filling your entire hand with product, you now only need a pea size. That's right, a pea size. Sometimes even that feels like it's too much. This goes for any and all hair products, what you use is immediately cut by 75%.

7. Didn't brush your hair today? Can't find your hairbrush? No big deal!

I don't know about you, but I constantly misplace things. Whether it be my phone, keys, or my brush. Having hair down to your mid back, this is catastrophic. Not only does your hair look disheveled, it feels it. There is nothing I hated more than trying to run my fingers through my hair and constantly getting stuck on tangles.

8. Drying time = nonexistent.

Before I got a pixie, my hair would take all day to dry, I could shower in the morning and it would still feel damp 6 hours later. Hey, when you have almost no hair that's not a problem. Your hair dries almost instantly if it's shaved, and even if it's a little longer on top - it dries within minutes. Score.

9. Not. Finding. Hair. On. Absolutely. Everything.

Sick of being covered in your own hair before going out? Get a pixie. Sick of finding long hairs in unthinkable places? Get a pixie. Significant other sick of finding your hair in their mouth? GET A PIXIE.

10. Your hair doesn't get in the way anymore.

My hair would constantly be in the way. Whether it was falling in my eyes or rolling over into a bush of it while sleeping, it was always there.

11. Head rubs feel a-ma-zing.

No, really, they do. I always wondered why my boyfriend loved getting his hair played with so much, turns out it feels so much better when there's less of it.

12. It grows so much faster.

I know it seems pretty ironic to like your hair growing fast once you cut it all off, but its just crazy watching it go from newly cut to almost a different style in a matter of weeks. It's seriously fun to watch your new, healthy, baby soft hair to grow.

13. Cutting your hair off is life changing and takes guts, what can't you conquer?

Although hair is, just hair. It can completely change your attitude on a day. One bad hair day can seriously ruin everything. Once it's all gone, you feel like nothing can stop you. What does "impossible" mean?

14. Even people you've never spoken to will compliment you on your new, edgy style.

Once I cut off all my hair, I got compliments from everybody. Seriously, everybody. Even if they really don't like you with short hair, they'll still admire how big your lady balls are that you actually cut it all off.

15. It empowers you.

As much as I love my short hair for all the above reasons, this one is my favorite.

Cutting all my hair off made me feel like a new person. I was suddenly more confident, and just generally more mellow with everything. Having a bad day? It's cool, you got short hair now. It sounds strange how much hair can affect your mood and your attitude, but I definitely feel more bad*ss now that I have short hair.

So come on, do it already.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
