15 Ways Finding A Job Is Like Dating
Everyday Interview Tips

If you're coming close to graduation this year, then chances are you've either started your job search already, or you'll be starting it soon. I started my job search a little while ago and what I quickly came to realize is that job searching is almost completely like the process of dating and here are 15 reasons why that is:

1. You have to be ready and committed to finding the right one.

2. You have to choose which way you're going to go about the process.

Are you going to search online? Find them at a bar? (OK probably not, but you catch my drift.)

3. You have to search through a lot of potential candidates.

4. Oh good, you finally found one you liked!

Time to put yourself out there.

5. You have to make yourself look as presentable and appealing as possible.

But this time, it's all on paper.

6. They want to interview you?!

This is like the "talking" phase when dating. You get to find out if you like each other enough to take this to the next step.

7. The night before the interview you're all nervous and spend forever trying to figure out what to wear.

Does this outfit say hire me? What does this color say about me? How should I wear my hair?

8. The first interview kind of feels like a first date.

Which might entail a little bit of awkwardness.

9. OK, you got through the first interview. Now you have to wait for the call back.

You freeze any time you hear anyone's phone go off, you can't stop overthinking that slightly odd answer you gave to one of the questions and hours start to feel like days.

10. They called and want a second interview!

OK, this is getting serious now. This could be something. The phone call probably went something like, "I like you, do you like me too?"

11. You walk into the second interview way more confident than the first.

You're reassured they like you now, therefore, you walk in knowing you got this.

12. You walk out thinking "nailed it."

How you even answered some of those questions, you'll never know.

13. Holy wow, they called and offered you the job.

I repeat, THEY OFFERED YOU THE JOB. OK this is awesome.

14. Now, you have to think if you're actually ready to commit to this.

15. You decide you're ready and you take the job.

Welcome to the first day of the rest of your adult life!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
