15 Realities Of Being Home For Winter Break

From excitement to dread, everyone has different and mixed emotions about traveling home for the four-week break between semesters. If you can survive this, you can survive anything—and summer break will be a breeze.

1. Having to actually tell your parents when you go out, even when it's not to enjoy questionable activities and you're just going to get food at midnight.

2. Being asked about your grades and what classes your taking, repeatedly, because after being home for more than three days your parents run out of things to talk to you about.

3. Being the center of attention at family dinner because you've been M.I.A basically since you left for school.

4. Your parents treating you like a child. Sorry, no mom and dad, I've been a mostly functioning adult for the past four months, I can make my own decisions without sudden combustion.

5. Surviving having basically all your freedom and own decision-making abilities taken away from you once you walk in the front door.

6. Not being able to see your college best friend(s) whenever you want because they live hours away.

7. Being able to see your best friends whenever you want for four weeks straight.

8. Giving your dog unlimited attention and love because when everyone goes to work, it's just you and him.

9. When your brother catches you at 2AM going through the fridge, looking for food (and sampling what looks good.)

10. Trying to get wasted to survive all of break while also trying to not look like a college alcoholic.

11. Showering with solid water pressure and hot water every day at any time.

12. Getting into the most messed up sleeping habits, even worse than during finals week.

13. Just wanting to take a nap and everyone in your house is judging you for it.

14. Eating real, home cooked food because goodbye dining halls!

15. Having to say goodbye to your friends and family until you're home again in six weeks.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
