Lakeland, Florida is hands down one of the most beautiful and interesting cities I've ever been to. Around every corner there's a hometown restaurant and a coffee shop you'll immediately love. This list consist of 15 interesting and delicious places around Lakeland. It will definitely give you an idea of where to plan your next day trip!

1. Munn Park

Munn Park is a beautiful spot downtown! Surrounded by beautiful trees and right in the middle of the downtown action. Munn Park is the perfect place to go people watch or enjoy a good cup of coffee!

2. Black and Brew

While enjoying your time at Munn Park, you can walk on over to Black and Brew! It is considered to be the hippest coffee shop around! Not only do they offer amazing coffee and drinks, they also make the best food.

3. Hollis Gardens

Hollis Gardens is definitely a sight to see in Lakeland! You'll be surrounded by beautiful plants, flowers and complete serenity! A lot of people choose Hollis Gardens as a wedding location and by the picture above you can see why!

4. Keke's

If you decide to visit Lakeland and you're looking for breakfast, look no further! Keke's is the best! From decadent pancakes and waffles to your typical eggs and bacon, Keke's has it all. I suggest the Florida waffle (pictured above), it was amazing y'all.

5. Silver Moon Drive-In

Can you honestly say you know where a drive-in movie theater is? Silver Moon Drive-In in Lakeland is amazing! If you're looking for an old fashioned time then the drive-in is a place for you! Make sure to check out their website for show times. http://www.silvermoondrivein.com

6. The Poor Porker

A visit to Lakeland requires a visit to The Poor Porker. This is the coolest spot in Lakeland to be at. They serve beignets, the best cold brew coffee and barbecue all at the same place! They also have two very cool shops on site. A visit to The Poor Porker is mandatory.

7. Florida Southern College

With architecture by Frank Lloyd Wright, Florida Southern College is the most beautiful college campus! Literally, it was named Princeton Review's "Most Beautiful Campus". The school offers tours if you're really interested! From personal experience, I can 100 percent back that up. I love my school and all it has to offer and it's just a plus that it's absolutely gorgeous!

8. Lake Hollingsworth

Located right by Florida Southern College, Lake Hollingsworth is a sight to see! From bikers to runners to people just walking and enjoying the view, there's always people on Lake Hollingsworth. The view and atmosphere cannot be beat.

9. Concord Coffee

Another really cool and inviting coffee shop is Concord Coffee! Located on South Florida Avenue away from downtown, it's the perfect stop for some great coffee! Inside, Concord Coffee is such a typical coffee shop, you won't ever want to leave.

10. Lake Mirror

Lake Mirror in the heart of downtown Lakeland. It is definitely a go-see! Not only will you always see cute little ducks floating around on the lake but you'll also get to see some really cool architecture. Go check it out!

11. Yates & Hagan

If you're looking to take a shopping break, definitely check out Yates & Hagan! This store carries the latest and greatest clothing and accessories. Yates & Hagan sells Simply Southern shirts, Yeti cups and coolers, and Alex and Ani bracelets just to name a few things!

12. Lake Morton

Lake Morton is known for the beautiful swans that inhabit it! Even if you're not into swans, Lake Morton offers an escape and a time to just be one with nature! There are always swans to see so Lake Morton is never "just a lake"!

13. Polk Theatre

For those of you who are interested in the arts, Polk Theatre is the place for you. It features many well-known plays and shows such as Gone With the Wind and Rocky Horror Picture Show. 14. Circle B Bar Reserve

For all you nature lovers, a trip to Circle B is a trip you need to take! With trails and wildlife viewing, Circle B Reserve is a place for you. From snakes, alligators and bobcats you're guaranteed to see something!

15. Joker Marchant Stadium

Also known as Tiger Town, Joker Marchant Stadium is home to the Detroit Tigers, during spring training! If you're ever in Lakeland in the spring time, go check out a game!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
