Ever wanted to take a trip overseas but don't know what to pack? Well here is a list of some basic things that every successful and experienced overseas traveler knows they need in their carry-on. These are things that I packed when I went the United Kingdom and China because you need more than just your passport.

1. A camera and batteries

To take pictures with when/if your phone dies during the day.

2. Phone and phone charger/converter and headphones

Headphones are great for the in-flight entertainment that is usually provided on long-distance flights.

3. Money

Whether it is your credit/debit card (and you need to let your bank know in advanced) or withdrawing cash for the specific country or countries you are going to.

4. An extra pair of clothes

This way if your suitcase gets lost you at least have one pair of clean clothes to change into.

5. An empty water bottle

To fill up at a fountain after you get through airport security, so you don't have to spend $4 or more on a bottle of water in the airport.

6. A travel journal

This way at the end of the day you can write about what you did and how you felt about it. and it gives you something to look back at later.

7. Something to do on the plane

Chances are your gonna be stuck for a few hours (depending on where you're going) sitting, although there usually is a screen to play movies and TV shows it doesn't hurt to have a book or two.

8. All needed medicine and other health-related products

For example, if you get motion sickness, Advil or ibuprofen, any prescriptions, something for an upset stomach and a small first aid kit.

9. Your passport, boarding pass, and any other forms of ID

This could include a visa (say if you're planning a trip to China) or drivers license. Also, almost all airplanes and airports require a boarding pass in order to go through security and get on the plane.

10. Anything you need to sleep

Ear plugs, eye mask, and your own small pillow (could be a neck pillow) are all recommended.

11. You should consider having a pullover or light jacket with you as the cabin can be cold.

Also depending on where you are traveling to, you could run into colder air at higher altitudes.

12. A snack

Yes, they do serve meals on long flights but only at certain times and you might get hungry in between meals or end up not liking any of the options they are serving.

13. Pen(s)

Not only will you need this to write in the travel journal but most foreign countries require you to fill out an arrival card and declare any foreign objects that you are bringing into the country before you exit the plane. This ensures that you will get through passport control quicker.

14. Hotel reservation and travel itinerary

This ensures you know when you are going and what your plans are for each day.

15. Have a safe place to put things you won't need for a while such as your car and house keys.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
