15 Things That Will Happen When You And Your Brother Are Close Friends
Alisa Ligman

When I was a kid, I used to always tell people that my best friend is my brother. Back then it seemed strange to some people, but as I've gotten older I have realized just how true this statement is. My brother and I's friendship has transcended school levels, puberty and many other life changes. But, when you're really good friends with your brother, a few things inevitably happen- for better or for worse. Here some of them.

1. You have endless inside jokes.

Some of them are from when you were in, like, preschool and you still find them hilarious. Even your parents don't understand them.

2. You share a lot of the same friends.

And it's really fun- most of the time.

3. You had the same imaginary friends when you were kids.

My little brother and I actually created an entire alternate universe. It was great.

4. You've competed with your brother in Wii bowling, MarioKart and other games more times than you can even remember.

It was some pretty tough competition too.

5. Sometimes, you both just start laughing for no apparent reason.

And it's usually too difficult to explain why even though both of you understand.

6. Sometimes, you even have entire conversations with each other without even saying a word.

7. You don't understand when other people say that they hate their siblings.

8. But at the same time, your brother knows exactly how to get on your nerves and sometimes, you're just like:

9. Especially when he pranks you and after all these years, you still fall for it.

10. When you go out in public, sometimes people think that you two are dating. And you both respond like...

11. And when you or your brother actually do start dating someone, the other one ends up really third-wheeling.

12. Sometimes, other girls "discreetly" ask about your brother because they're interested. And you're just like...

13. You also have each other's backs; if one of you is about to do something stupid, the other one will honestly say it.

14. On the other hand, if either of you mess up, the other is first to forgive and move on.

15. Because you're siblings and friends, at the same time. And that's what friends and family are for.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
