No one understands your teenage life more than 2000s emo artists. Sometimes, the lyrics hit a little too close to home, and all of your sad, angsty feelings are exposed. Whether you went through a middle school emo phase or not, there's no doubt every freshman can relate to most of these lyrics.

1. "Now that you're gone the world is ours"

Song: "Monster" by Paramore

When your parents finally leave on drop-off day and you're on your own for the first time.

2. "Am I more than you bargained for yet?"

Song: "Sugar, We're Going Down" by Fall Out Boy

After syllabus week ends and the real work picks up, and you start to realize this is going to be harder than high school.

3. Don't wake us up, we'd rather just keep dreaming"

Song: "Happy Song" by Bring Me the Horizon

When waking up for your 8 a.m. class that you stupidly scheduled over the summer is a lot harder than you thought it would be, especially with that $100 mattress topper from Bed Bath & Beyond.

4. “But I believe in you so much, I could die for the words that you say”

Song: "Ghost of a Good Thing" by Dashboard Confessional

That one professor that has, like, three PhDs. You can't help but scribble down everything they say in your notebook like it's scripture.

5. I don't care how much you'll invest yourself in me, we're not working out"

Song: "Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough For The Two Of Us" by My Chemical Romance

When it comes time to break up with that long-distance significant other you swore you’d stay with for all of college.

6. Do you believe you're missing out, that everything good is happening somewhere else?"

Song: "Jesus Christ" by Brand New

Sometimes you’re alone in your dorm because everyone is either studying or busy, and you can’t help but feel a little emo.

7. Progress report: I am missing you to death"

Song: "I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me” by Fall Out Boy

When the novelty of college ends, the homesickness sets in and you start to miss your family and friends back home.

8. "I need you so much closer"

Song: "Transatlanticism" by Death Cab For Cutie

Walking to your first class of the day on South campus from your dorm on North campus when that 90 degree Summer weather is still around.

9. "The only hope for me is you"

Song: "The Only Hope For Me Is You" by My Chemical Romance

Staring at your notes and review packets before big tests like they’re a floatation device and your plane just crashed.

10. The hint of these new tears are sharp, I try to choke them back"

Song: "The Sharp Hint of New Tears" by Dashboard Confessional

When you get your first paper back that you spent hours on and you got a C+.

11. “If you’re gonna be the death of me that’s how I wanna go”

Song: "Collar Full" by Panic! At the Disco

Eating pizza and fries in the dining hall for the fourth time this week, knowing there’s a perfectly good salad bar on the way to the hot food.

12. “I told myself I’d be fine, but it’s a lie”

Song: "If You Can't Live Without Me, Why Aren't You Dead Yet?" by Mayday Parade

Waking up the morning after pulling your first all-nighter to study for a huge exam.

13. “Some things I’ll never know, and I have to let them go”

Song: "Pressure" by Paramore

That moment when you realize you can get a B on your exam and your GPA will still be okayish.

14. “I feel like every chance to leave is another chance I should have took”

Song: "I Will Play My Game Beneath the Spin Light" by Brand New

When you’re preparing for midterm season and you wish dropping out was a feasible option.

15. “Things have changed for me, and that’s okay”

Song: "That Green Gentleman" by Panic! At the Disco

Realizing that you’re not the same person you were in high school, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

College is a new and exciting time for every freshman, but it has its ups and downs. If you're having a rough night, just listen to a few emo songs to remind you that there are other people out there that feel the same way you do, and you're never alone.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
