Gauchos, ponchos, and lip smackers, oh my!

1. Gaucho Pants

Comfy, free, airy, came in many colors (the most popular being this dark brown for some reason). Ah yes, the gaucho, we all had them and we all loved them. If you were lucky, you had the sequin stretchy belt to match. Let me say, thank God these are no longer a fashion necessity.

2. Sparkly Sequin Bags

I LIVED for these bags even though the sequins fell off every!!! five!!! seconds!!!

3. Light Up Tennis Shoes

Fact: I used to take giant steps in my light up shoes because I was afraid the batteries would run out.

4. Butterfly Hairclips

I'm pretty sure these didn't actually hold any hair out of my face like they were supposed to, but my oh my aren't they fashionable? Add them to any braid or pony and you were ready for the day!

5. Hair Wraps

I never actually owned one of these but I was super jealous of the girls who did. I wonder though, is it as easy to do as it looks on the box?

6. Chunky Black Platform Shoes

WHY. WHY. WHY.

7. Stick On Earrings

Before we all made it to the Claire's ear piercing phase, we used these little numbers to jazz up our jewelry game pain-free. Look at all of the shape and color options!!!

8. Panchos

I. LOVED. MY. PANCHO!!! It was like I had a blanket with me 24/7.

9. Spikey Earrings

YIKES. SPIKES.

Wow, I really don't know what to say about these except GOOD RIDDANCE.

10. Popcorn Shirts

These are now sold in your local Walgreens in a "one size fits all" bin in a variety of colors.

11. Slap Bracelets

I had one of these and yes, at the time, I was very happy about it. However, these were a painful fashion statement, to say the least, and I don't really see the obsession of having to literally SLAP a bracelet onto your body but hey, cute colors right?

12. Bobby Jack Shirts

I HAD THIS EXACT SHIRT!!!! I'm pretty sure 90% of the girls in my elementary school did as well. I don't know what happened to good old Bobby Jack but I hope he's doin' alright!

13. Giant Hair Bows

Every morning after I had my french toast sticks dipped in syrup, my mom would slap a GIANT bow on my head. It went great with a nice half up half down hair do or a high pony. These really added some flair to our already cringey outfits!

14. Lip Smackers

I literally wanted to eat these no lie. They smelled SO GOOD. And if I was lucky my mom would buy me the soda flavored pack!!!

15. Retro Charm Bracelet

I don't remember what these are called but I definitely had one. While very stylish to look at, they were very painful to wear as the tiny hairs on my fetus arms would get caught between this bracelets metal teeth any time I moved.

Girls in elementary school nowadays have better fashion than I do. SERIOUSLY. I see you, Target, with your cute little cardigans and your furry vests!!!

But I am thankful for the cringe worthy fashion trends the 2000's brought upon us girls because it is quite the laugh when you're able to sit and reflect on it!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
