15 Bible Verses For Every Emotion
God is love

I was blessed with a family that instilled in me a strong faith and a love for our savior, Jesus Christ. When life got difficult, my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins quoted the scripture to calm my anxiety about the future and the uncertainly of life. Now that I am in college and on my own, I find myself turning to my religion and the Bible more than ever.

My faith soothes my soul during the difficult times all college students encounter. So, without further ado, here are fifteen common emotions along with quotes from the scripture. Hopefully this will serve as guide to handling the everyday emotions that we all feel from time to time.

1. Confused

It’s not easy trying to decide which path to take. While it is not fun to be unsure, as long as everything you do is in God’s will you really can’t go wrong.

2. Afraid

Being afraid is a normal emotion. The knowledge that God is with us as we endure the scary phases of our lives is reassuring.

3. Hurt

The people who hurt others usually do not realize what they are doing. They are unhappy with their lives and are projecting their pain unto those around them. Pray that they will see the error of their ways.

4. Judgmental

Even those who seem like they are perfect have sinned one way or another. Luckily, our God is a merciful God who will cleanse us of our sins. However, the reality is that everyone sins. The next time you feel like judging someone remember that no one is free of sin.

5. Depressed

God is full of compassion for those who have accepted him. He will offer deliverance from troubles and comfort those who are going through difficult times.

6. Love

I include both of these because in this day and age the characteristics of love have skewed away from the Bible’s characteristics. Hopefully this will help distinguish love from infatuation.

7. Tired

If you seek God’s help, he will help you through and offer you peace and strength.

8. Overwhelmed

It is easy to feel overwhelmed but God never gives us more than we can handle. Even when we are overwhelmed he is always there to offer strength.

9. Stressed

Life is never perfect. Something will always be troubling us. However, everything will be okay in the end as long as you keep going.

10. Insecure

Insecurity is normal. Remember that you are a child of God. As a child of God it is a fact that you are loved, you are important and you have a purpose on this Earth.

11. Ashamed

If even God can forgive you, you can forgive yourself. If anyone deserves your forgiveness it is you.

12. Hateful

Hate will get you nowhere in life. The only answer is to love people despite their flaws or imperfections.

13. Alone

We are never truly alone because we have God and God’s word to guide the way. The world may be a dark place, but God's words light the way.

14. Fearful

God is sovereign over all things and He is untouchable. Nothing or no one can match the fact that He is on our side.

15. Nervous

God has a plan for everyone. Trust in him and try not to fear what the future might bring or take away. In the end it is all in God’s will.

Bonus

Perlita’s and her Grandma Irene Rebollosa Flores’ favorite bible verse:

Faith, hope and especially love have gotten me through my darkest days. To me nothing contains more truth than this verse.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
