14 Tips For Shopping On A Budget

In college, most of us live pay check to pay check and don't have much money to spare. However, this doesn't mean that our style has to be compromised. It's possible to have a great sense of fashion on a budget. Here are 14 shopping tips that will prevent you from breaking the bank, but still allow you to have your own style.

1. Get up at 5 a.m. on Black Friday | Black Friday is a great time to get a deal on absolutely everything. Stores have incredible deals, but the catch is that you have to get up very early. However, it's definitely worth it as I have gotten clothes for half their value at White House Black Market, Nordstrom, Macy's and more. (Black Friday is in 19 days for those counting.)

2. Don't forget about online sales | Online shopping can be a disaster, but Black Friday is the one exception. Stores offer clothes for a great value, and sometimes even have exclusive online sales.

3. Pay attention to the shipping cost | When you do shop online, be very are aware that shipping can be extremely expensive. $29.99 on an awesome pair of heels sounds like a great deal until there is a $12 shipping cost tacked on.

4. Don't focus on the brand name | There are so many look-alike items that you can buy at a third or even a fourth of the price. For example, Vera Bradley offers a leather collection that is much more affordable than Marc Jacobs or Coach but has the exact same look.

5. Shop at the outlet malls | You'll feel great when you go to pay and the cost is a third of what you would have paid. Another plus is that you will be able to get more for your money!

6. Always plan ahead | At the end of August, you should be focusing on building up your wardrobe for the next summer. This is because at the end of the season, you can get great clothes very cheap.

7. Cost and worth | Remember that cost and worth are different things. Before buying anything, always think about whether the item is worth the cost.

8. The cashier is your friend | Always ask the casher if they have any current coupons. You'd be surprised how many sales associates will give you a coupon or discount if you ask.

9. Also, the retail worker is your friend | Going off of #7, always be as nice as possible to the people working at the store. Retail workers appreciate nice people, and will be more likely to share with you shopping secrets such as when something is going on sale if they like you.

10. Avoid impulse buying | We are all guilty of walking into a store for one thing, and leaving with five others. However, when you're on a budget, make sure to only buy items that you really need.

11. Always check out T.J. Max | T.J. Max has designer-brand clothing at a discounted price. I've gotten some of my favorite items of clothing here!

12. Follow style blogs | Some people are great at finding the hottest trends and looks of the season. Follow these people, and then go and find look-alike items that are cheaper.

13. Go straight to the sale section | Before checking out the rest of the store, make sure to look through the sale section.

14. Never shop alone | Always bring a friend along when you go shopping because they can serve as a voice of reason and prevent you from spending money on items you don't need.

Happy shopping, everyone!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
