Class is over and you can taste the freedom of summer in the air. You've got the last nine months of your life packed up in boxes and you're ready to go home and have as much fun as Micheal Scott has on an average Tuesday.
1. When you walk out of your last final and can't wait to celebrate.
Pop the champagne, because summer has finally arrived!
2. When you realize the entire summer will be spent at work.
As much as you dreamt of spending every day at the beach this summer, that college tuition isn't going to pay itself. Day after day, you find yourself withering away at your minimum wage job.
3. When you finally see your pet.
Of all the things you missed being away from home, your dog probably topped the list.
4. When you attempt to see all your old friends.
You're super pumped to see all of your friends from high school, but it's pretty hard to squeeze in time to hang out when you're all just trying to afford dinner. How does 3 a.m. sound?
5. When you realize you have to ask for permission to do things.
You're 21 years old, but mom still cares about your whereabouts. It's hard to remember to not just leave the house unannounced after years of independence. Yes, you can see your friends, just be home by 11 p.m. - and clean your room first.
6. When your mom makes a homemade meal.
Is that really something other than ramen? This has to be the best day ever.
7. When you go to your old hangout spot and see people you never wanted to see again.
You're trying to be cordial, but you have a feeling your facial expression might be giving off the wrong vibe.
8. When you see all the high schoolers that are still in class.
Ha! Bet they wish they were as cool as all you college kids.
9. When you find out about all of your former classmates who are pregnant.
Not surprised, not surprised, wait, wasn't she valedictorian?
10. When you have a few too many drinks with your friends and have to face your parents.
There's no stumbling back home to your own place this time. Good luck.
11. When you actually do something productive.
You wrote one scholarship essay this summer. That's plenty of productivity, right?
12. When you run into the kid who is still in love with you from high school.
Oh, hello. Didn't expect to see you here... or anywhere... ever again.
13. When you still manage to get into a few shenanigans.
Reliving the glory days never felt so good.
14. When you come to terms with the fact that summer won't last forever.
Somehow it's August 28 and you're wondering what happened to the last three months. You've fallen in love with your hometown all over again and can't believe you're leaving it so soon. Until next time, hometown.
