Once upon a time, I was the Queen of Procrastination.
Ever since I can remember, every parent-teacher conference I had throughout secondary school consisted of my parents and teachers discussing how I always waited until the last minute to do my work. In my defense, I still completed my assignments on time.
Thankfully, I have gotten a lot better at prioritizing my time, but there still remain some occasions where I wait until the 11th hour to do something—say, studying.
Here are 14 stages of procrastination I know all too well.
1. I can do this, just one more final to go, then I can go home. Let’s study.
2. I can’t do this.
3. Just kidding, I can, in fact, do this.
4. Actually, let me get a snack first.
5. Okay, wait, let me check Twitter while I’m at it.
6. And perhaps call Susan.
7. Maybe I should study now.
8. Let me find a good playlist to listen to before I get on the grind.
9. NOW IT'S TIME TO STUDY.
10. OH MY GOSH HOW WILL I EVER LEARN ALL OF THIS INFORMATION IN A MATTER OF 24 HOURS.
11. It’s okay. Focus, focus, focus.
12. How is it already 4 a.m.?
13. Sleep is for the weak.
14. Never mind, perhaps I should go to bed and get a bit of rest for this test.
And alas, the exam occurs and all you can do is hope for the best.
