Growing up in an Italian family can be a pretty crazy experience although it is one of the best I have ever had. I am so proud of where I come from and all of my family's heritage. Being around this family is what helped to shape who I am as a person today and for that, I am eternally grateful.

1. You had/have strong feelings your family might have ties to the Italian Mafia.

2. It is not possible to have secrets; your business is the family’s business too.

3. You’re so used to people being over-the-top loud you forget it’s not actually that normal.

4. You grew up with the most amazing food and anyone else’s Italian food just doesn’t cut it.

5. Holidays are a big deal.

6. There is really no such thing as a vegetarian Italian, so you better love meat.

7. Coming to accept that a low-carb diet just isn’t ever going to work out for you.

8. Everybody talks with their hands, and we are all used to it.

9. Realizing it is not that normal to have family gatherings of 50+ people on a random Sunday.

10. Trying to keep the family tree straight is almost near impossible.

11. You never really had to worry about burning in the sun.

12. Inheriting the need to worry about every little thing possible.

13. Saying no to food is basically a sin … you must always be ready to eat.

14. Knowing you have a crazy family, but you love every single one of them and every single minute you get to spend with them.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
