14 Questions I Ask While Watching Friends
Friends Central

When "Friends" came on Netflix last January, I managed to watch all ten seasons in a matter of weeks. Fast forward fifteen months and I have seen every episode no less than a dozen times each. Besides being able to quote every episode line-for-line and the ability to give a complete biography on every character to set foot on the show, there are also many questions I've started to ask myself throughout my time watching "Friends."

1. Are my friends this funny?

My friends are pretty hilarious, but I definitely do not have a Chandler Bing in my life.

2. How do they afford apartments in Manhattan?

Apparently I'm doing something wrong, because I'm in class all day and share a ten by ten bedroom with two other girls. If someone could please explain to me how six people that spend all of their time in a coffee shop make enough money to afford rent in Manhattan, I would greatly appreciate it.

3. Which character am I?

Well I'm Monica because I like things clean. But I'm also Joey because I love food. Oh screw it, I'm not as cool as any of them.

4. Can I meet them?

Top of my bucket list is to meet these six people.

5. How did Phoebe come into the picture?

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad she did, but how did two Columbia grads, one of their sisters, a childhood friend, and an actor become friends with a previously homeless massage therapist who sings about cats?

6. Will you marry me Ross?

I'll marry you.

7. If I brought Joey food, would he be my friend?

Will pay sandwiches for friendship.

8. How are they all so pretty?

Because I'm pretty sure the cast of Friends coined the hashtag #squadgoals.

9. Where are all of Joey's sisters hiding?

With the amount of references there are to Joey's gaggle of female siblings, it always surprises me they aren't around more than three times in ten years.

10. Is that really Ben?

Ever since the episode where Chandler and Joey forgot baby Ben on the bus, I always question if it's really him or if the real Ben was in fact the other baby (and whether or not he is still in the office for the Department of Public Transportation).

11. No but really... can I meet them?

Please?

12. Can I have Rachel's hair?

Or really any of their hair... pretty please?

13. Chandler and Monica... Chandler and Monica?!

Apparently I don't pay attention to pop culture references because I had no idea this was going to happen. Mondler was definitely the best surprise to come from Friends (except maybe Marcel, no one gives that monkey much credit).

14. Can I please meet them?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
