14 Discounts Your Student ID Can Get You

As we near spring break and the end of the school year, all we’re looking forward to is the upcoming vacations that are on our horizons as students. But with breaks comes spending money, and honestly what college student likes to do that? Have no fear, though: I found the perfect places to spend your money at, but get a discount! The word "discount" to college students is like Heaven (unless the other word is free).

Take a load off; take a break from studying, and enjoy a movie, eat at some of these yummy restaurants, and show off your new clothes you’re about to get with these discounts.

Here are 14 places to receive your discount with your school ID!

1. J. Crew: 15 percent off

My friend once told me every woman needs a blazer – here's a good place to check out! Although I did see one for sale for $800, I don't think that's what she meant by me needing a blazer.

2. Charlotte Russe: 10 percent off

I love this store. That's all I have to say.

3. Vineyard Vines: 15 percent off

I actually don't own one article of clothing from here, but I mean, if I can get a discount, I guess I should check it out!

4. Kate Spade: 15 percent off

Because what woman doesn't want a Kate Spade purse?

5. Banana Republic: 15 percent off

Again, another store that I own nothing from, but hey –discount!

6. Eddie Bauer: 15 percent off

We could all use a little Eddie Bauer in our lives!

7. H&M: 15 percent off

I love this store – recently I purchased a bag from here, and it was only $25, and everyone thinks it looks like a Michael Kors bag. Score!

8. Amazon Student: free two-day shipping

I spend $800 on textbooks, but the free shipping makes me feel a tiny bit better inside.

9. Spotify: 50 percent off premium (no ads)

No ads? Yes, now I can continue listening to Rihanna's new song on repeat with no interruptions!

"Work work work work work work. La la la la la" (sorry, OK, I tried. I really only know the word "work" in the song).

10. AMC Theaters: Movie ticket discounts every Thursday

Who doesn't love going to the movies?? It's my favorite pastime.

11. Buffalo Wild Wings: 10 percent off

I wonder how much money I would have saved had I known this discount existed before.

12. Subway: 10 percent off

Wait, 10 percent off Subway? Yum! Some participating Subways also offer a free cookie on Fridays!

13. Chipotle: free soft drink

Free guac?? No? OK, yes, I get it.Guac is extra. I'll just be here with my free drink ...

14. McDonald's: 10 percent off

This one really comes in handy in March, because you know what March means? Shamrock shake season. (Say that five times fast.)

There are many more than 14 stores that you can get a discount at for having a student ID, but I hope these 14 help you get a start on saving money! Maybe the money you end up saving you, put aside for yourself to take a trip or do something fun with? That sounds like a cool idea!

Do you know any other places that you can receive student discounts at? Don't forget to share below in the comments so I can add them to my list to help me save more money!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
