In the days leading up to finals, you’re feeling pretty good. You think, “I’ve got this.” The next thing you know, You’re making notecards, spending late nights in the library, and living off granola and coffee. Then things seem really bleak after that first final. But eventually its over and you get to go home and forget the last week even happened. Until your final grades come in that is.

These songs will push you through the stages of finals week. Some might make you feel better. Some might make you feel worse. But they will all make you feel like you’re not alone.

1. My Shot- Hamilton

"I'm past patiently waiting, I'm passionately smashing every expectation, every action's an act of creation."

Take it from Alexander Hamilton. Hard work and perseverance will take you far in life. Find your inner Slytherin (yes, he IS a Slytherin) and use your ambition to be the person you've always wanted to be.

2. Chip on My Shoulder- Legally Blonde

"With the chance I've been given, I"m gonna be driven as hell."

College is something that not everyone can afford. You are privileged in your ability to get a college degree. Don't ever forget that.

3. Astonishing- Little Women

"I'll find my way, I'll find it far away, I'll find it in unexpected and unknown, I'll find my life in my own way."

Forget about love. A college education will give you the skills to do whatever you want. You will find it in yourself to be "astonishing" if you can just get past this exam.

4. Seize the Day- Newsies

"Nothing can break us, no one can make us quit before we're done."

Take advantage of the opportunities you have and do something great. Each day gives us another chance to b the best person we can be.

5. Defying Gravity- Wicked

"I'm through accepting limits, 'cause someone says they're so."

You, like Elphaba, can accomplish anything. So what if people think you're a villain? Your ambition and drive can get you through anything.

6. Wish I Were Here- Next to Normal

"And I'm trying to enjoy it, but I'm missing all the fun."

So maybe you're not manic depressive or high on drugs, but the out of control nature of this song is relatable to the person hopped up on caffeine and wondering what the point of the stress is.

7. Breathe- In the Heights

“Hey guys, it’s me! The biggest disappointment you know.”

Nina is the most relatable character in musical theater for any college student. She is struggling with failure for the first time after her Freshman year at Stanford and can hear the praise and love from her neighbors, but its smothering her. When you've been great your whole life, it feels like the end of the world when suddenly you're not.

8. Totally F****d- Spring Awakening

"There's a moment you know, you're fucked."

If you’re reading this list instead of studying for finals, this song is probably very descriptive of your life right now

9. Purpose- Avenue

"Purpose it's that little flame that lights a fire under your ass."

College is the place for self-discovery and finding your "purpose." Avenue-Q makes this journey funny, but the questions asked are ones asked all the time by me and my friends.

10. I Believe in You- How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying

"I hear the sound of good solid judgment whenever you talk."

Sing this song to yourself in the mirror and you'll have as much confidence as J. Pierrepont Finch. You can do anything, even pass this exam.

12. You & Me (But Mostly Me)- Book of Mormon

"You and me, but mostly me, Are gonna change the world forever, 'Cause I can do most everything."

A little self confidence will go a long way during finals. If you think you can, then you cannot fail. Unless you forget to study, of course.

13. No One is Alone- Into the Woods

"Things will come out right now. We can make it so. Someone is on your side. No one is alone."

Trust me, you're not the only one who feels like a failure after doing bad on a test. We're all in this together (but not in a High School Musical kind of way).

14. Tomorrow- Annie

"When I'm stuck with a day that's grey and lonely, I just stick up my chin and grin and say oh, the sun will come out tomorrow."

So you failed a test. In the end, it doesn't matter. Just keeping looking forward and hopefully next time, you do better.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
