Nearly four years ago, I embarked on a journey that would change my entire life. I was blissfully unaware that my life would change because at the time I was confused beyond belief on how a blue box could travel through time and space. Yes, I began my "Doctor Who" journey all those years ago. If you ask anyone that watches "Doctor Who" on how they started watching the show and where they started at, it's a pretty great story. It's the kind of story that makes friendship or creates mortal enemies. I attempted watching the show with the Ninth Doctor but I couldn't get into the show. So then I started at the Eleventh Doctor and that's when I knew that my life would be changed forever. Side note to the die hard Whovians, I did go back and re-watch the Ninth Doctor and some original Who. Don't worry. "Doctor Who" has taught me some pretty great lessons and I've made some really great friends because of the show. Here are 13 very important lessons you can take away from this article.
1. You are important. Everyone is important. You are always going to be important.
Don't let anyone tell you any differently. You are extremely important.
2. It's perfectly fine to be weird. Normal is just so boring.
Normal is boring. Don't be afraid to just be you because being you is better than being something you are not. Be weird.
3. Change is hard but it's part of life.
Change is incredibly hard. Yet when you think about it, we are not the same people we were a few years ago. Our likes and dislikes have probably changed and that is perfectly fine. You have to adapt and change in order to grow. Time is fleeting and it never stops.
4. Saying goodbye is really hard. We know that one day, we will be reunited. Somehow. Somewhere.
The saddest moment in life is saying goodbye to someone whether it's someone moving across the country or passing away. Goodbyes are always going to be hard. You still have the memories with that person and one day you will see them again.
5. Life is better with friends by your side.
Friends make you better. Life would be lonely and miserable if we didn't have friends by our side. Life is far more enjoyable when someone can see you make embarrassing mistakes.
6. Always take a Banana to a party.
It's true. You have to keep your energy up somehow.
7. Laughing is good and you should find humor in anything.
A world without laughter is quite sad. Laughing is good for you, a Doctor even said that once or twice.
8. Bow ties are and will always be cool.
They will always be cool. Dress how you want to dress and don't let anyone tell you any differently. Be you.
9. It's okay to cry. You are only human.
A good cry is good for you. Let all those emotions out, it's bad to keep them tucked in.
10. Introductions are very important and memorable.
First impressions are very important. How you introduce yourself will place a lasting impression on anyone, so make it a great one.
11. Endings are sad but new beginnings make it a tiny bit better.
Again. Your favorite Doctor might have left and you are still sad about it but think about where the show has gone now. It's okay, Sarah. In reality though, beginnings are exciting. Fresh starts are always good. New you!
12. Time is crazy and passes by in an instant. The best way to describe it is wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey.
We only have one life so live it to the fullest extent. Do things you never thought you would do.
13. You are the writer of your own story.
How do you want to be remember after you are gone? Live your life to the fullest. Do things you never thought you would do. Want to see the world? Then go. You are the one that writes your story. So make it a memorable one, eh?
