Facebook is, for some, a social media platform to use for entertainment and for sharing updates and opinions. For others, it is the downfall of productivity.
Here are 13 thoughts that we all, or at least that I have while scrolling on the delightfully, yet dreadful site.
1. I hate this website, why am I even on here?
We all have this unspoken hate for Facebook, but for some reason our fingers just know to open a new tab and press the 'F' key, and click the site as a distraction from everything we're obligated to do.
2. Three new engagements: this makes me even more single than I already am.
Before you know it, the people you have gone through life with are getting married and having kids. Last time you checked, college had just started.
3. And, another person I went to high school with is pregnant. There's a surprise.
Babies are everywhere now.
4. This person just got back from a tour around Europe. I feel boring.
We all have that one wealthy friend on Facebook, that somehow always finds the money to take exotic trips and experience exciting excursions. That sounds cool, in the mean time, I'll be at the Library pretending to study.
5. I should probably get back to homework now.
Let's face it, you're on Facebook because you're trying to avoid doing something productive.
6. Yes, you're a Republican, I get it.
There will always be people who share every Political opinion possible on social media. It will cloud up your feed, so just keep scrolling.
7. Finally, here's an inspirational video about cats I can watch.
At least there's a video with inspirational quotes and cute kittens to kill time.
8. This person just got in a fender bender? Why'd she post this again?
You're not quite sure why people post this stuff, but at least they're okay.
9. Aw, my best friend posted a status, she's so cute.
Finally you come across a person you actually care about seeing updates from.
10. This person is getting super personal on Facebook.
She's the girl that wines about her breakup and about how "he's the only one for her" and that they were soul mates. On the contrary, this person could also be a guy complaining about how "girls never date nice guys."
11. I really need to get off this website.
12. Why does it feel like everyone has an interesting life right now?
You went to see a movie last week, that counts as interesting, right?
13. She got a promotion, that's awesome! Maybe I could get one of those if I got off Facebook.
Then it occurs to you, you could easily spend your time away from the site.
Ultimately, Facebook can be a fun way to share your experiences and see updates from the people around us, but at the end of the day people are only sharing who they want to be perceived as online. So keep scrolling and focusing on life outside the Internet.
