13 Thoughts LSU Students Have While Running To Class

It's hot. It's humid. You're exhausted (and probably hungover). You're frantically trying to get to class in time because walking in once the professor starts talking is awkward AF. And God forbid you miss an attendance point if there is one; every point helps!! While walking to class, there are a million different things going on around you and you have a million different thoughts running through your head.

1. Please oh please oh please find a decent parking spot.

Before even getting to campus, you're already stressed that you won't find a parking spot and that'll make you late for class. I usually just opt for the back lot because parking in front of Tiger Stadium is like going shopping on Black Friday.

2. Okay, don't get hit by a car.

Big strides, big strides, big strides... That car is going to stop, right? Wait, it's not slowing down! Bigger strides, bigger strides, bigger strides...

3. Look composed. These people can't notice how hard you're breathing.

Is this one of those situations where it's acceptable to blame my asthma?

4. Crap, I know that girl.

Quick, pretend like your phone is ringing so they don't have the chance to get close enough to see the beads of sweat dripping down your face!

5. Should I actually go to class or should I skip to get food?

Get those bad thoughts out of your head. But C's get degrees so I'll let myself skip tomorrow since I'm going out tonight. I'll reward myself after class today with Chick-fil-A.

6. *Hears preaching* Must dodge anyone who tries to make you sign a petition or join a club!

No, I do not want to be a part of the chess club.

7. Three more minutes until class.

You can do this, you can do this!

8. Are they handing out free popsicles over there?!

Re-evaluating if I should go to this class or not...

9. Why are you walking so slow!!

Come on, people. Left foot, right food, left people.

10. Wow that's a fat squirrel.

Probably because he hangs out in front of Subway.

11. Oh man, now I smell Subway...

I really should've eaten before class.

12. Would it be weird if I asked that girl where she got her backpack?

Potentially. Not worth the risk. Also extra human interaction is not ideal right now.

13. *exactly 9:30* I did it!!

That half a mile walk better be worth it...

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
