We all have that "nerdy" friend, or perhaps are lucky enough to be that friend. These are the people that are distraught when they don't get A's, that aim for the Dean's List, and that you suspect have permanently rented out a room in the library. To be a nerd is something that I personally think one should take pride in. However, sometimes it can be hard because there are certain things that other people just don't understand about us.
Here are the top 13 things all nerds want the rest of the world to know.
1. I'm not just "smart" - I work hard for my grades.
2. There is nothing more annoying than being told "you study too much."
3. The idea of not studying stresses us out way more than the actual act of studying.
4. We know C's get degrees, but we still want A's because it makes us feel just a little like we know what's going on.
5. We aren't trying to be dramatic when we get upset about B's - we are really that disappointed.
6. We actually want to get something besides a grade out of the class.
7. We like classes that challenge us.
8. Blow-off classes annoy us.
9. Ratemyprofessor.com is confusing because "easy" teachers get better ratings.
10. We appreciate classes where other students are engaged.
11. We hate when our study groups don't actually study.

12. It's not about being "better" than anyone else - it's about meeting our own standards.
13. We aren't all on the Quidditch team.
Well, I am (it's fun!), but not everyone is.
I hope you understand your "nerdy" friends a little better, and if you are the nerdy friend, I hope you now know you aren't alone. Keep up the studying, don't lower your standards, and keep shooting for the stars.
