13 Things I Don't Thank My Roommate Enough For

Don't know where I'd be this semester without you.

13 Things I Don't Thank My Roommate Enough For

Making the decision between choosing a roommate or going completely random is a nerve-wracking situation every college student understands. We've all heard the horror stories about the roommate who watches over you as you sleep at night or is convinced they have some sort of supernatural power. But if you're as lucky as I am, your roommate turned out to be your best friend who understands you better than anyone else and will probably be your bridesmaid one day. So, here are just a few things I should have thanked my roommate for everyday.

1. Letting me borrow your clothes.

With a closet full of clothes, half of which I bought and never wore, I always end up finding something cuter in your closet.

2. Listening to me complain about grades, boys and other insignificant drama.

You deserve an award for all the times you've listened to me rant about how much work I have to do, how hard that exam was or what he did wrong this time.

3. Being by my side everywhere I go and in everything I do, literally.

Like Blair and Serena, cookies and milk, and peanut butter and jelly, we're just better when we're together.

4. Telling me what to wear and what definitely not to wear.

"Which shoes should I wear?" "Do you like this one or this one better?" "Necklace or no necklace?" Thank you for your fashion expertise.

5. Reminding me that one test grade won't lead to me failing a class, then failing out of school and working at McDonald's for the rest of my life.

You always help me put things into perspective.

6. Dragging me out of bed when I'm not in the mood and knowing that the only medicine I needed was a good time.

No matter how many times I say I don't want to go out because I'm just not in the mood, you somehow find a way to convince me and it's always a good time.

7. Staying in with me on weekends to watch a movie and eat anything and everything, and almost always ending up in tears.

Let's face it, we all need a detox from the college party life at one point or another. Staying in to watch a Nicholas Sparks movie while drinking wine or eating Ben and Jerry's ice cream is sometimes the answer.

8. Stuffing your face with me so I don't feel bad even though we both know we will regret it less than an hour later.

"Why did we just do that?" We look at each other and ask after inhaling late night Insomnia cookies, cheesy bread, pizza, sushi, or mac and cheese. "We should probably go to the gym tomorrow."

9. Blasting music in the car and singing at the top of your lungs with me.

Windows rolled down, favorite song turned up loud, driving around endlessly.

10. Dealing with my mood swings.

You deserve an award and a cake for this one.

11. Always looking out for me.

I know I can always count on you for advice, to make me feel better and make sure I'm making good decisions (if I'm not, you're probably Snapchatting it).

12. Jamming out to 2000's hip-hop music with me when we're getting ready to go out.

Breaking out into dance and song is as much a part of our getting-ready-routine as putting on our lipstick and mascara is.

13. Being not only an amazing roommate, but a best friend and partner in crime.

I honestly have no idea where I would be without you.

Thank you for all of the unforgettable memories we have made together this year. I couldn't be luckier to have met someone who understands me perfectly and puts up with me on a regular basis.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
