13 Signs You Went To William Tennent High School

It seems as though it was just yesterday we walked through those doors for the first time as little naïve freshmen. Not sure where we were going, not sure where any of our classes were and definitely not sure how to open those lockers. The halls at Tennent have shaped us for the better because not only did they make us stronger, they made us wiser. Our four years, 16 marking periods, 720 days, and 4,320 periods were nothing shy of amazing. William Tennent High School will always be my home, and I am forever proud to be a panther.

1. Academic Day was your favorite day solely because of Mr. Bassler and Mr. Beal.

Even if you don’t like expressing school spirit, it’s absolutely impossible not to with these two clowns as your host.

2. Wednesdays were impossible to forget, thanks to Mr. T.

Ever since the “Hump Day” commercial came out, I don’t think he’s ever missed a Wednesday.

3. If you weren’t at Applebee’s after a sporting event, did you even go to Tennent?

Boneless wings please!

4. Showing up to school at 7:31 a.m. and waiting in the “late line” was equivalent to just coming into school during 2nd period.

Safe to say this since I graduated: The amount of late notes I forged on someone's back in those lines were limitless. Thanks mom for having an easy signature though!

5. If you were not at your car by 2:17, there was no shot of you making it home for dinner (sarcasm, but not really).

If you’re an underclassman and expect a ride home from an upperclassman, don’t be surprised when they send you a text telling you to sprint to their car. They mean it.

6. You got disappointed if BWTV didn’t have at least 5 videos on the Friday morning announcements.

Being a part of BWTV, don’t think I didn’t hear disappointing whispers when Friday videos weren’t shown. We thought you actually wanted to pay attention in 1st period today!

7. Half of your closet consists of fan shirts.

No grandma I don’t play basketball or run track, I just have 4 years worth of t-shirts of these sports I don’t even play!

8. You’ve ranted to Mrs. Sudholz or Melissa.

What better teachers to be friends with than a gym teacher and the security guard? You either got out of class, or even better, you got out of Mr. Shapiro’s gym class.

9. You’ve texted your friend in another class to get their teacher to call you out of yours.

“Can I borrow _____? He/she needs to finish a project.”

10. Having 4th lunch was the same as starving yourself all day but, 1st lunch wasn’t any better.

Even though you got first pick at everything during 1st lunch, who wants to eat lunch at 10:40 when Wawa still serves breakfast until 11!

11. Looking forward to Tuesday’s and Thursdays because of buffalo chicken sandwiches.

Even though looking back you have no idea why you would have ever eaten that, they were still one of the best.

12. As an upperclassman, the week of Keystone Testing was your favorite week.

A whole week of sleeping in late, going to breakfast, and arriving to school in the afternoon. What could be better?

13. After winter break you eat, breathe, and sleep Black and White Night.

Black and White Night is the heart of William Tennent. Three days make up this event: Academic Day, Pool Night and Gym Night. During these three days you will make the best memories of your high school experience and be able to witness the most spectacular school spirit. One of the biggest mistakes you can make as a freshman is to choose not to get involved. When your teachers nag you to participate, take their advice and do an event! You will never regret it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
